Sandy Creek finishes baseball season strong

Going into their final stretch of games in the regular season, the Patriots of Sandy Creek High School were 4-9 in the region and 7-14 overall. They were out of the AAAA playoff picture and it would hae been very easy for the team to phone in their performance the rest of the way and focus on something else.

Patriots move to state quarterfinals

Sandy Creek’s varsity boys tennis team defeated Statesboro and Bainbridge in the first two rounds of the AAAA state playoffs, setting up a quarterfinal match yesterday against Chapel Hill.

Landmark Christian girls dominate Class A track meet

The Landmark Christian School girls track team pounded the Class A competition at the state track meet this past weekend. The Lady War Eagles finished with 148 points and were followed by Jenkins County in second place with 43 points. Our Lady of Mercy placed 20th.

Stanislaus takes state title

Sandy Creek’s Mellany Stanislaus won the AAAA state championship in the triple jump with a jump of 39' 5.250.” Sandy Creek finished 20th overall in AAAA.

Local teams begin state playoff runs

Landmark’s varsity baseball team completed its bid for back-to-back region championships by downing Heard County 5-1 Friday. Kyle Gray hurled a no-hitter while Tim Perkins and Dylan Hanes led the offense with two hits and one RBI apiece.

Lightning goes 3-1 over four-day stretch

The Southern Crescent Lightning played four games in four days and improved their record to 4-2.
