Panthers place 2nd in region meet

The Riverdale Lady Raiders track team took the title this week in the Region 4-AAAAA track championship meet at Starr’s Mill High School.

Everybody wins in the first round of state playoffs

Four of the five scheduled first-round state soccer playoff games were played in Fayette County Tuesday and Wednesday night, but it didn’t matter where you were playing if you were a team from Fayette. Only the Fayette County Tigers allowed a goal in a first-round game and they only allowed just the one, defeating Valdosta 7-1.

McIntosh tennis captures region titles again

The road to another region tennis title for the McIntosh boys featured shutouts over Mundy’s Mill (3-0) and Newnan (4-0) before edging out Starr’s Mill in the region final (3-2). The Lady Chiefs captured their region crown by beating Carver (3-0), East Coweta (3-0) and their own tough match with Starr’s Mill (3-2). Last year, the McIntosh Lady Chiefs made the state finals while the McIntosh boys and the Starr’s Mill boys and girls made the state semifinals.

 

Starr’s Mill and McIntosh girls and boys golf teams head to state

The Starr’s Mill boys and the McIntosh girls captured region golf titles at White Oak Golf Course earlier this week. The Panthers defeated the Chiefs 300-315, while the Lady Chiefs defeated Starr’s Mill with a score of 164-208.

Starr’s Mill picks up two region wins, McIntosh falls to Newnan

Monday’s baseball games were rained out, pushing them to Tuesday afternoon. Starr’s Mill took on Riverdale Tuesday and won 4-2 in nine innings with Kyle McCreary hitting a home run in the top of the ninth. Danny Hartpence went 4-for-5 for the Panthers, scoring two runs and hitting two doubles. Blake Nation picked up the win, pitching five innings and giving up no runs and no hits, while striking out four.
