Only the Fayette County Tigers allowed a goal in a first-round game and they only allowed just the one, defeating Valdosta 7-1. The Lady Chiefs captured their region crown by beating Carver (3-0), East Coweta (3-0) and their own tough match with Starrs Mill (3-2). Last year, the McIntosh Lady Chiefs made the state finals while the McIntosh boys and the Starrs Mill boys and girls made the state semifinals. The Panthers defeated the Chiefs 300-315, while the Lady Chiefs defeated Starrs Mill with a score of 164-208. Starrs Mill took on Riverdale Tuesday and won 4-2 in nine innings with Kyle McCreary hitting a home run in the top of the ninth. Danny Hartpence went 4-for-5 for the Panthers, scoring two runs and hitting two doubles. Blake Nation picked up the win, pitching five innings and giving up no runs and no hits, while striking out four. |
