An Editorial: What about our rights?

Is this how 2,000 years of cultural history gets trashed? Without any of us ordinary citizens getting even one chance to vote whether to keep traditional marriage as is or to “redefine” civilized society’s most basic unit?

An Editorial: The gay marriage debate: Some servants and some mis-representatives

State Senator Mike Crotts, who represents a portion of southeastern Fayette, introduced the same-sex marriage ban in the upper house and has served as the lightning rod for predictable bashings by activists and gay marriages’ biggest cheerleader in Georgia: The AJC.

Raise the minimum driving age to 18
By RICK RYCKELEY

The little boy stood in the middle of the bedroom he shared with his twin brother and sobbed. He knew what he had done was a bad thing, but not knowing how to fix it was worst. His mom and dad had told him not to play with his brother’s toys, but like most 5-year-olds, he didn’t listen. Now his twin brother’s much beloved toy, Ultra Man, lay at his feet, broken into many pices.

Two gay people marrying: It was all so normal
By MICHAEL BOYLAN

Well, I’m back, sort of, and I’m here to tell you that I’ve been in the belly of the beast, my friends. I’ve been front and center in a place that apparently is the most terrifying, doom-bringing, hell-hole on the planet these days. And I’m not talking about Buckhead, either. That’s right. I’m talking about a gay wedding.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Who’s the real power behind the push for county police force?

I think many people don’t realize the real issue behind the commissioners wanting the marshals to be county police. It’s about politicians with no experience in law enforcement wanting to control the lawmen who police our county.

Citizens must decide on county police

Please allow me this opportunity to offer a short response to many recent articles regarding the county commission filing a law suit against Sheriff Randall Johnson.

It’s a conflict of interest for lawyers to vote on tort reform

Gibson’s ‘masochistic Christianity’ is grotesque

For Lent, why not meditate on Mel Gibson’s horror movie, “The Passion.” Is there something inherent in our Judeo-Christian culture and psyche which is demonic, that is, obsessed with incivility, brutality, oppression, violence, torture, bloodshed, inhumanity, barbarism, cruelty, war, and death?

Movie meant to provoke questions, discussions

I saw this movie Thursday and it literally took my breath away. I encourage those who might be on the fence to see it, if only once, to gain a true understanding of this historically accurate event.

Who done it? Consider some distinctions ...

With the advent of Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of The Christ” comes a barrage of media coverage to match the hype surrounding the film. The movie explicitly depicts the torture of Jesus Christ in gruesome detail. One reviewer writes, “The agony is graphically and excruciatingly portrayed.”

Christians must show love to gays

This is in response to Mr. Jeff Ellis’s letter [The Citizen, Feb. 18, 2004].

Constitution misused in gay rights debate

The gay and lesbian marriages that are taking place in this country right now angers me. These activist elected officials are breaking the law. My first concern is nothing is being done legally to stop this. Why are these activists not being arrested and the marriages performed not annulled? What is happening to this country?

Dixie T-shirts represent proud, cherished past

A fiery, but unknown and thus probably not very brave writer in the “Free Speech” section of your paper took offense to the fact that children in our local schools wear the very popular Dixie Outfitters T-shirts, with their Confederate flags, and symbols, to local schools.

PTC Target: Traffic safety must rule

Peachtree City officials, I am writing to express my views to each of you regarding Council’s March 4 meeting to discuss Faison’s appeal of the Planning Commission action denying Faison approval of their conceptual site plan for the Kedron shopping center expansion.
