Savage reflects on tenure as airport manager

Peachtree City resident Jim Savage has been involved with airplanes since he learned to fly at the age of 16. He has worked in aviation ever since, starting with a part-time job at a fixed based operation and followed by time in the Air National Guard, 24 years as a pilot with Eastern Airlines and close to 13 years as the airport manager at Falcon Field in Peachtree City.

Judi-ann Rutherford will walk away quietly from her job as office manager of the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater today.

Planning Commission dealt with Georgian Park issues for much of 2003

The Peachtree City Planning Commission had a long back-and-forth with Buckhead Brewery concerning a number of issues after the restaurant opened, including berming, having the wrong sorts of trees and having a final landscape plan for the commission to approve. These issues were resolved and there was never really a time when it was expected that the restaurant would have to close its doors.

Airport Authority deals with possible loss of hotel/motel tax, search for new manager

The Peachtree City Airport Authority started the year with lots of good news, including Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Company’s relocation from Griffin to Falcon Field and the opening of the Dixie Wing Commemorative Air Force Museum nearby in April. Things changed soon thereafter.

Library Commission gets bond referendum for library expansion passed

The Peachtree City Library Commission had one major focus in 2003: Getting a bond referendum to pay for an expansion to the library. Board members got what they wanted as the citizens of Peachtree City narrowly approved the referendum 2,476 to 2,400. Work has already begun on the design process and getting the bonds ready for sale.

Teen arrested for making threat with knife

Police have arrested a 16-year-old Peachtree City boy for threatening another juvenile with a knife during a confrontation Tuesday evening at the Chick-fil-A in the Peachtree Crossings Shopping Center.

Former Riverdale officer gets probation in park exposure case

A former Riverdale Police captain has pled no contest to reduced charges stemming from an altercation that ensued when he urinated in public at Dixieland Fun Park back in September.
