Hii Country’s first development is underway

It could be the look of the future even though it feels like the past. The 900-acre Serenbe Community is a dream that's fast becoming a reality in South Fulton County. The community is the first development in the Chattahoochee Hill Country Alliance and the first lots went up for sale in late October. Plans are to complete the project by this time next year.

Survey says Union City has too much retail

The results of a Union City town center study are in, and were brought before the Mayor and Council Monday night.The bottom line of the study, officials said, is there seems to be too much retail space.

Christian city gets a taste of the arts

Last Tuesday, an Atlanta Symphony Orchestra ensemble performed for a capacity crowd at Christian City.ÊThe inaugural "Evening with the Arts" opened with a vocal performance by ASO affiliate Reverend James Bell, III and his wife Martha Steed Bell of Peachtree Christian Church, accompanied by Herbert Buffington.ÊThe chamber music ensemble featured violinist, Lorenz Ottzen and Pat McFarland on a variety of woodwind instruments. “The musicians were overwhelmed by the warm reception they received at Christian City", said Quanda Rodriguez, Manager of Community Engagement and Partnerships.Ê"They enjoyed it so much and are looking forward to coming back again.

Eight Georgia schools nominated for National Blue Ribbon award

Seaborn Lee Elementary off South Fulton Parkway was recently named one of eight Georgia schools nominated to the 2004 “No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Schools” program by State Supt. Kathy Cox.

Fuhrman named to All-FFC team

The Freedom Football Conference announced Monday that Kings Point junior linebacker Matt Fuhrman, a former Starr’s Mill player, has been named a first-team All-Conference selection.

CCSU women finish 8th in NCAA regional

The Clayton College & State University men’s and women’s cross country teams finished sixth and eighth, respectively, Saturday in the 2003 NCAA Division II South Regionals at the Panthersville course on the grounds of Georgia Regional Hospital.

Thurber represents USC on SEC Soccer Good Works Team

South Carolina women’s soccer player Amanda Thurber, a sophmore from Fayetteville and 2002 graduate of Starr’s Mill High, has been named to the SEC Soccer Good Works Team, which highlights an athlete from each SEC school who gives back to their community through service efforts.
