The lawfirm of Collins and Jones was awarded the Fairburn city contract for Municipal Court Judge Monday night. Of the 18 solicited proposals, only three were received back. Judge Antone L. Allison and Judge Ronald J. Freeman, Sr. withdrew their proposal on September 25 leaving Donald J. Parrot, Sr. the only other contender for the position.

Sheltering Arms Child Development & Family Support will host a “Housewarming” for its newest early childhood education center on Tuesday, November 18, at 6:30 p.m.ÊMembers of the South Fulton Chamber of Commerce, co-sponsor of the event, will join other community supporters and the Sheltering Arms family for a cocktail reception at the center, which is located on the campus of Camp Creek Middle School, 4345 Welcome All Road, Atlanta. Throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to tour Sheltering Arms’ state-of-the-art preschool and child care facility, which is a prototype that will be replicated in three other South Fulton communities by Spring 2004. In lieu of housewarming gifts, guests are asked to donate a new teddy bear or book to be given to an infant, toddler, or preschooler during the holidays.

Mexican dance company visits Oak Knoll Elementary School

The Ballet Gran Folklorico de Mexico, an international Mexican dance company performed Friday, October 24 at Oak Knoll Elementary School in East Point. Students were enthralled by the performances given by the company.

The Southern Crescent Aquatic Team attended the War Eagle Invitational at Auburn University Oct. 10–12 and placed seventh among nearly 40 teams. More than 1,000 swimmers attended the meet.

Emily Stallings of Fayetteville is among 61 golfers aged 7-12 from across the country competing in The Golf Channel’s Drive, Chip & Putt Jr. Golf Skills Competition.
