Local golfer in national event

Emily Stallings of Fayetteville is among 61 golfers aged 7-12 from across the country competing in The Golf Channel’s Drive, Chip & Putt Jr. Golf Skills Competition.
Stallings, 10, is in central Florida this weekend going after the title in the 9-10 age group at Falcon’s Fire Golf Club in Kissimmee beginning Saturday at 9 a.m.
The field was narrowed from more than 25,000 participants in 100 communities across 39 states and Canada.
The Golf Channel’s Drive, Chip & Putt Junior Golf Skills Competition provides a free and friendly opportunity for boys and girls to compete in a fun series of events designed to develop and test their golf skills, regardless of skill level or exposure to the game.
Already in place for 2004 is the first official series title sponsor, the Mutual of Omaha. The Mutual of Omaha Drive, Chip & Putt Junior Golf Challenge presented by The Golf Channel will expand to include 13 and 14-year olds.
The national championship highlight show will be broadcast Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, at noon ET on the Golf Channel.
