Residents want answers about Duncan Park

The Fairburn City Council had its hands full during Monday's meeting when several people and their placard-holding children demonstrated their dissatisfaction with the situation at Duncan Park.

Union City reduces lot size for churches

Union City doesn't call itself "The Progressive City" for nothing. At their meeting last week, Mayor Ralph Moore and the City Council reviewed a number of concerns and proposals affecting growth and commerce in the area.

Fairburn OK's $14m budge

"I just think this is pie in the sky." Councilman Harvey Melear said of Fairburn's 2003-04 proposed $14.5 million budget Monday night. "I don't think we as a city are going to bring in $14 million."

Budget hearings coming in October

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners will conduct several public hearings in October to receive taxpayers' input regarding the County's 2004 General Fund and Special Services District Fund budgets.

Darnell to speak at banquet

Meetings to address school districts

The Fulton County School System has announced three community meetings that will address the redistricting process and timeline for a new middle school under construction on CampbelltonRoad in south Atlanta. The meetings begin in mid-October and will be used to gather specific information needed to draft a redistricting proposal that best meets the needs of the community.

Chamber to host candidate forum

The South Fulton Chamber of Commerce will hold its Breakfast Business Forum Oct. 16.The program will be a monthly Candidates Forum for the Fulton County Chairman's race.Most of the candidates have confirmed their participation.Candidates includeMitzi Bickers, Karen C. School officials honored in Washington

The Fulton County School System has joined an elite group of organizations such as CIGNA P&C, Hilton Hotels, Mobil Oil, UPS, Wells Fargo Bank, Siemens and others as an inductee in the Balanced Scorecard Collaborative Hall of Fame.This latest honor for the school system came in ceremonies held Sept. 16, in Washington, D.C.

South Fulton Farm Bureau celebrates National Farm Safety & Health Week

Agriculture is one of the most dangerous industries in the United States. In 2002, agriculture ranked second behind the mining/quarrying industry, with 21 fatalities per 100,000, workers or approximately 730 deaths. Work fatalities in agriculture increased two percent last year, while the all-industry average declined by three percent according to the National Safety Council.
