Darnell to speak at banquet

Fulton County District 5 Commissioner Emma Darnell will be the featured speaker during this year's Fulton County Department of Parks & Recreation Volunteer Appreciation Banquet, scheduled for Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the Georgia Power headquarters, 241 Ralph McGill Boulevard in Atlanta.

The Department of Parks & Recreation will recognize 70 volunteers for their dedication to athletic and/or environmental programs and other community service endeavors that benefit the county. Accomplishments of the volunteers range from successful fundraising efforts to rename a field after a ball player who died from cancer; to sponsorship of printing for Wood Bat Classic brochures. WXIA news anchor Tiffany Cochran will emcee the event.
