On June
6, U.S. District Court Judge Robert Vining issued a written order approving
a settlement agreement between the Fulton County Board of Education and
the plaintiffs in the long-running Hightower v. Westschool desegregation

Roadside
vending curtailed in Fulton
At its June 4 meeting,
the Fulton County Board of Commissioners unanimously passed a resolution
proposed by Vice Chairman William "Bill" Edwards to enact
a moratorium on roadside vending permits in South Fulton.
Gosa
named Substitute Teacher of the Year
The Substitute Teaching
Institute at Utah State University has named Colintha Gosa, a retired
32-year teacher who now substitutes in the Fulton County School System,
as its 2003 Substitute of the Year.
AARP
and Atlanta History Center team up to preserve veterans history
The American Folklife
Center at the Library of Congress, in partnership with the AARP and
the Atlanta History Center, recently launched an effort to collect Georgia
veterans's stories that will become part of the Veterans History Project
(VHP).

and State University's summer Information Forum for non-traditional
and transfer prospective students is set for Wednesday, June 11, from
6:15 p.m. until 8 p.m. in room 101 of the Harry S. Downs Center for
Continuing Education. Non-traditional students are defined as those
individuals who graduated from high school more than five years ago.
