Lady Tigers are state champs

It has been 38 years since Fayette County High School brought a state championship trophy home to their hallways. In 1964 the school's varsity baseball team won the state title. Now the 2002 Lady Tigers varsity softball team are state champs.

Teams winding down season with wins

Several teams were off last week, while other teams had big region battles to play. The results were fairly successful for a few of the local teams, including Landmark Christian and Sandy Creek.

New store brings the gym home

There is a new store in Fayetteville for people out there who enjoy exercising and staying fit but have difficulties finding the time to go to a gym. Home Bodies, located by the Barnes and Noble and Kinko's in Fayetteville, is a one stop shop for those who would like to put exercise equipment or a home gym into their house.

SCAT wins Halloween Invitational

SCAT swimmers won their second meet in a row with a first-place finish at the Halloween Invitational in LaGrange on Oct. 26. The previous weekend SCAT won the Georgia Southwestern Invitational in Americus.

McIntosh kicks of basketball season on Thursday night

McIntosh High School wil officially kick off the 2002-2003 basketbal season this Thursday with "McIntosh Madness."

PTC Paddlers host annual meeting on Sunday

The Peachtree City Paddlers canoe and kayak club's annual meeting will be held Sunday, Nov. 10, at Augustino's Ristorante Italiano, 282 North Hwy. 74 in Peachtree City. The gathering for paddling enthusiasts in the Metro South area will begin at 6 p.m. Persons planning to attend are asked to contact Margo Booth at margo@jimmybooth.com or 770-487-8084 and let her know the number of people in their party. The deadline for signing up is Thursday, Nov. 7.
