Some football teams battle this weekend, others rest

Several football teams will get a week off to heal some bumpos and bruises that have been accumulated this season ad enjoy some more Halloween candy before next week's game.

Mel Pender's philosophy in life can be summarized as "To whom much is given, much is required." Members of the Peachtree City Running Club will get to hear Pender speak at their monthly club meeting on Monday.

Admission to Callaway Gardens is free next Thursday

To pay homage to one of its founders, admission to The Gardens at Callaway will be free on Cason J. Callaway's birthday, Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Authors to discuss legends of gardening

Have you ever heard of 'Nellie R. Stevens' Holly and wondered who was Nellie R. Stevens and how did this holly get her name? Linda Copeland, guest speaker for the Backyard Association, has co-authored "Legends in the Garden," along with Allan Armitage, professor of Horticulture at the University of Georgia.
