Some footbal teams battle this weekend, others rest

Several football teams will get a week off to heal some bumpos and bruises that have been accumulated this season ad enjoy some more Halloween candy before next week's game. However, the teams that are in action tonight and tomorrow will have their hands full. Sandy Creek (5-2) comes off a huge week to travel to College Park to play Woodward Academy (4-3). Phillip Hyde rushed for oer 250 yard and scored three touchdowns. He is definitely an integral part of the Patriot's offense, as are Jamal Rome, Calvin Johnson and Will Judson who seem to make big plays and scores each week as well as quarterback Dusty Bennett, who gets them the ball. Sandy Creek has won two games in a row and is in second place in the region behind Douglas County. Woodward Academy has gone 4-1 in their last five games and will finish the season with games against Chapel Hill and Alexander, both of which have losing records. It will be important for the Patriots to win this game and stay ahead of the War Eagles in the playoff race. Landmark Christian (7-0) will travel to take on Bowdon (5-2) tonight. Bowdon is undefeated at home this season and has won three games in a row, outscoring their opponents 132-25. In their last three wins, the War Eagles have outscored their opponents 147-63. Landmark is getting production from the entire team and each week someone else steps up with a solid performance. Last week, quarterback Alex Mortensen threw four touchdown passes and Evander Holyfield Jr. had a 63-yard touchdown run. Our Lady of Mercy (2-6) has been bitten by the injury bug. That, coupled with having to face some tough opponents, has led to two losses in a row. Tonight they host heard County, whose only loss this season came at the hands of Landmark Christian. The Bobcats will need to play some disciplined ball and try to control the clock to stay in this one. Next week, Our Lady of Mercy faces Landmark Christian at Landmark. McIntosh (1-8) is off Friday but will travel to Twelve Oaks Stadium in Hampton on Saturday to take on Lovejoy. The Chiefs put some points up against Starr's Mill last week in a 52-33 loss. Two of their touchdowns came from 80 yard runs by Cameron Hall. McIntosh has had soe luck running on their opponents all year long but mistakes have proven costly. There can be no mistakes against the Wildcats if McIntosh is to end their season on a winning note.
