Patriots split and Panthers drop both in in tough region matchup

Tuesday night saw some big regional matchups, giving fans, coaches and players an idea of what is in store during next week's regional tournament. Both Sandy Creek and Starr's Mill faced tough competitors in Woodward Academy and Riverdale, respectively.

Regional basketball tournaments start nearby on Monday

The regional basketball tournaments will begin on Monday. The boys 4-AAAA tournament will be held at Fayette County High School, with Fayette County as one of the possible favorites. They are a talented team, with lots of speed and athleticism. McIntosh will give every one of their opponents a tough game, though they are not as deep as they have been in the past. The tournament will last until Friday.

Teams prepare for area wrestling meets this Saturday

If you are a wrestling fan, this weekend is like a godsend. The 4-AAAA and 4-AAA area meets start on Saturday, separated by only a few miles. The 4-AAAA area meet will be held in the old Fayette County High School gym, while Sandy Creek High School will be the setting for the 4-AAA meet.

Lady Cougars to host first soccer jamboree this weekend

The Lady Cougars open their 2000 campaign this Saturday, February 5th, in the first annual Lady Cougar Jamboree in Drake Stadium on Newnan's campus.
