Price announces for F'ville #1

On Nov. 4, 2003, the city of Fayetteville will have an election for Post 1 on city council. This year a new candidate with fresh ideas will be available for the voters choice. Wilson Price is that candidate.

Although I know many people throughout the community a brief biography might serve to introduce me to the folks I hope to meet and whose friendship and support I hope to earn. Elaine and I have resided in Fayetteville throughout our marriage of 22 years. We are the proud parents of Katie, a 2001 graduate of Fayette County High School, a junior at Georgia Southern.

I am proud to have been a member of the United States Marine Corps, having served in Viet Nam in 1969-1970. Upon completion of my military service I was fortunate to be able to resume a rewarding 36-year career with Delta Air Lines with whom I am still employed. As with many parents I was active in numerous youth sport activities as our daughter grew and was very supportive of our excellent school system.

I found Fayetteville to be an outstanding community to raise a family. As we face the opportunities and challenges of the future, I would like to serve to help ensure that Fayetteville will continue to be a city where our children and grandchildren will want to call it their "Home Town."

I believe in setting high standards and goals, personally and as a community. I would like to see and will support more cooperation between governments. The shared parking between the Fayette County High School and the Villages Amphitheater is an excellent example. I will encourage public/private sector projects and efforts. Working together we can accomplish much. I will ensure that I am always available to listen and learn from the homeowners and our business community.

Fayetteville's motto, "A History With a Future," is more than a catchy phrase but rather a goal we should all strive to make a reality. It would be an honor to serve as your councilman for Post 1. I hope you will vote on Nov. 4 for Wilson Price, Post 1.

Wilson Price
