Teen arrested for shooting girlfriend in north FayetteFri, 09/01/2006 - 3:04pm

A teenager was arrested Friday afternoon after he shot his girlfriend during an argument at a north Fayette residence, police said. When investigating the case, sheriff’s detectives found several other weapons including an assault rifle at the home at 280 Fairfield Circle, said Lt. Col. Bruce Jordan of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. Raheem Malik Grant, 17, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a person under 18. Witnesses said Grant was arguing with the victim when he shot her around 11:30 a.m., Jordan said. The victim was struck in the chest but expected to survive the injury, Jordan said. When interviewing Grant at the hospital, Jordan said “he seemed to be high on something." Detectives took a sample of his blood to determine if he was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Detectives found about 10 bullet holes in the wall of the residence, which was a small building behind a regular size home, Jordan explained. The building was not hooked up to a septic tank though it had a bathroom, and deputies found raw sewage on the ground, Jordan said. login to post comments |
