Little League in Fairburn

I wish the people who responded would but that effort in helping us get little league at Duncan Park in the City of Fairburn. We have asked whites to join us but they prefer to take there kids to Tyrone, PTC and Douglasville.

Is anyone out their willing to help us? If so, flood Mayor Hannah Office with phones calls and Faxes.

The phone number is 770 964-2244, fax; 770 9693484.

This is for all the kids of Fairburn, city or unincorporated. One race can't do it alone or shouldn't have to. If we claim to be proud Americans, help your fellow man on something that can make a difference in kids lifes. Believe it or not they will remember the joy of little league for the rest of there life.

Fairburn City Council members listen up! (AND THIS ALSO MEANS YOU SCOTT VAUGHN and MARIO AVERY) We Fairburn taxpayers want our money spent on OUR residents and OUR city. We dont want to see you waste it away like Fulton County and we don't want you to participate in a race war started by a bunch of hateful people who don't even live in our city by screaming race is the reason they aren't getting something they arn't even entitled to in the first place.

People who do NOT live in Fairburn want Fairburn taxpayers to spend MILLIONS of dollars on their recreation programs. Why should we? NON-Fairburn residents want Fairburn taxpayers to foot the bill because the Fulton County has no intention of doing it. So, if Fulton won't do it then Non-Fairburn residents ignore Fulton County as usual and start screaming racism at Fairburn. What’s up with that?

SHAME on you Fightracsim 1123!!! And SHAME on Fairburn Little League for making this an issue about race when it is really about you wanting something for nothing. YOU can start fighting racism if YOU stop using race as a weapon or a reason to be entitled to things that no one else is entitled to. Go back to YOUR elected officials in Fulton County and ask them for funding to pay for your recreation needs and get your greedy racist hands away from my tax dollars.

What is your point exactly? You don't live in Fairburn so who the hell cares what you think when it comes to something involving Fairburn?

Your tax dollars do not go to support Fulton County's Duncan Park that they lease to Fairburn. Why would Fairburn invest a dime in a park/Little League/football/whatever that the county can suddenly repo?

Let me help your dumbfounded brain a bit: Fulton County cannot provide rec services to Fairburn because Fairburn has exceeed the requirement of state law that counties cannot provide cities with rec services in parks once they reach 5K in population. Remember when Duncan Park was closed over this very reason? Of course you don't, you were probably in line at the Fulton Co Health Dept or any other govt agency begging for something.

In another earlier asnaine post you said that Fulton County shouldn't sell the park to Fairburn, but now your whining about Fairburn not doing whatever. You can't have it both ways as Fairburn isn't going to do anything with Duncan Park as long as Fulton County owns it and can reclaim it? DUH!

Make a difference in our children's lives by having some intelligence is my motto.

Sorry, Nuk, you aren’t exactly correct. There isn’t really a state law per say that prohibits all counties from providing recreation services in cities with populations over 5K. This is something that was created in response to a special request from a bunch of black, Fulton County politicians led by none other than Bill Edwards himself.

Fulton County ASKED for a charter amendment to their local constitution to keep them from spending funds on recreation in cities with more than 5k population. This special local constitutional amendment was actually sponsored by even more black politicians (Senators Kasim Reed, Nadine Thomas, Sam Zamarripa , Lianne Levetan and Vincent Fort). See for yourself at http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2003_04/fulltext/sb196.htm

It allowed Fulton County voters to decide whether or not Fulton County should be authorized to operate recreational programs in a city with more than 5,000 residents. They asked for it, Fulton County residents voted on it, and they got it.

So, why are they now screaming racism at Fairburn who has no obligation whatsoever to provide recreational services to Fulton County residents? They should really be ticked off at their own elected officials who created this problem to begin with and the voters who supported them.

Fairburn Little Leaguers should flood those elected officials responsible for this with faxes and phone calls and demand some truthful answers for once about why they were so stupid to create this problem to begin with and what they intend to do about it.

Bill Edwards can be reached at 404-730-8230 or email: William.Edwards@co.fulton.ga.us and Kasim Reed, the man who sponsored the legislation, can be reached at Phone: 404-463-1379 Fax: 404-463-1387 or email: kreed@legis.state.ga.us

Hold them accountable for their actions and demand the services you are entitled to from the proper venue. Those two men can solve the problem just as easily as they created it in the first place.

How many of you "whiteys" have kids in Fayette County Schools? I'm so sick and tired of "African American History" being shoved down my kids throats by the Fayette County Board of Education! Every year, for the past 10 years, my children have had to do reports on a famous African American. Even my second grader has a report on this subject this year. Tell me this isn't racism! If it weren't kids would be allowed to report on a famous American of thier choice...not African American!!!!!!

It's the whites that are experiencing racism today, beginning in our own public school system. Personally, I am over the blacks thinking they rule the world and the white people owe them something.

Sorry you have to pay for little league, just like everyone else. Just because the government gives you a free lunch among other things; doesn't mean that everyone else will cave in to your whining.

Stop playing the race card. Everyone has turned a deaf ear to it. We have seen it played too many times for the wrong issues.

Explain to me how immigrants from any other country can come here with nothing, and in a single generation be self supporting??

I will tell you how. It is through hard work. Not hard work whining about how they are owed everything in the world, but from plain old fashioned hard work!! Try it, you might like it.

Nobody owes you anything. If anything my right's have been violated because I had to read your racist drivel............I'm going to call my ponytail lawyer.

"Explain to me how immigrants from any other country can come here with nothing, and in a single generation be self supporting??"

Immigrants made a decision to come to this country. Slaves did not. Immigrants, if they were the right color, did not have to battle Jim Crow laws. Many descendants of slaves have become more successful than those whose ancestors worked so hard to keep them down. Percentages and actual numbers can be confusing. There are more 'white' poor people in this country than 'black'. The largest segment being the 'working poor' - who work every day, pay their taxes, obey the law - and can't even save for health care out of their minimum wage salary. Maybe we all should work together to see why this is a reality in the richest country in the world.

Slaves were brought here 200 years ago.

The Irish, Chinese and others were brought here to build the railroads. How many of them died doing that?

Their ancestors were slaves 200 years ago. In 200 years they as a race didn’t learn anything?

What you might not know is that there a lot of, “pick a color”, people that are very smart. It’s funny that you still believe that intelligence is somehow tied to skin color.

Those that are, “pick a color”, and looked around and saw an opportunity and said, “I can do better than this”.

If you haven’t noticed, there’s a lot of white trash out there that could do better as well.

It’s a matter of pride that makes a person excel in any given opportunity. Black, White, glow in the dark Green, if you want it and are willing to work for it, you can have it.

All you have to do is get off you’re a$$ and DO IT!

I have many friends that are of different ethnic backgrounds that have seen something they want for themselves or there families and have achieved their goals because they worked for it. They don’t ever cry, “I’m, “pick a color”, and therefore I should get a break. They simply work for it.

They work there butts off and teach their kids to do the same. Just like everyone else.

Yes people who escape from Communist China want to be here. If black people don't want to be here, they can go, no one is holding a gun to their heads. If they think there is something better out there, then go. If they think they would get more respect in their ancestral homeland of Afica, then go. If you are going to stay stop complaining and start working.! That is all anyone asks.

We all have a choice. We can be a contributing member of society or not. It is a choice we make everyday. I could choose not to go to work tomorrow. It is one option I have available. My boss could choose to fire me for it. That is a choice he has available. When I can't pay my mortgage because I lost my job, the bank could choose to foreclose on my home.
You see we all have choices. Some of them are good choices and some not so good. My moral compass says I need to work hard for a living.
What does your compass say? Does it say that the whole world owes you something?

But if you are going to stay work hard and make the best of it. Stop complaining about how life isn't fair, your right it isn't fair. A fair is someplace where we go on rides that make us sick, and then we eat a bunch of cotton candy, that makes us even sicker.

Its people like you that will never be happy. Instead you want to make it hard for your race to advance anywhere in life. Are you even a fayette citizen, i sure as hell hope not. Its people like you that keep rasicim alive. You want to end rasicim, then stop crying about it. Black people complain bout it more than any other race in America. I'm amazed that you would judge an entire race of people by the rant of someone like 'ruthie'. There are those who are 'white' who feel the same as Ruthie about those who are 'different'. Thank heavens I don't judge all 'white' men by the likes of Bundy or Manson.

Git Real's picture
Submitted by Git Real on Fri, 09/01/2006 - 6:27am.

I do not judge an entire race based on a segment of it that are ranting idiots and trash. To confess the last thing I want is to have a line drawn and we stay in our respective communities. I know several black families that I love and we have become dear friends over the years with. Same in business with several individuals that I know on a very personable level. I have had the pleasure of meeting with Herman Cain a couple of times and have sat and discussed many of the issues with him that divide our community.

I roomed with an black gentleman for several years on a large construction project we both worked on and got to know his family and his culture in an intimate way. I moved to Atlanta in the early eighties with an extreme optimism for the future of our two races. I have since come to realize that Atlanta is center of race hate in our country.

It breaks my heart to see the crimes against, the mistrust, and the disliking and even hate that takes places between our two races. I experience daily the hate and racism coming from your community and it is just as real and disheartening as that in which you experience from ours. I don't see much hope at this point and that is probably shameful on my part. Guess I'm just tired and fed up with it all.

So everytime I see the likes of Jesse Jackson, Andrew Young, Tupac, and the rest of the popular poverty and hate pimps I see the walls between us being built up higher and thicker. I have seen very little come from any organized black associations that prove that they desire to reach out blend together in a common society. Same to be said about the white community. Sooooo.....can't you see where perhaps it may seem that we should each stay on our own sides of the fence in order to maintain harmony? Nothing else has seemed to work.

Ruthie is certainly trash if she was real indeed. And I make sport of wrestling with clowns like that. Sandra, if you are a sincere person in your desires to neutralize the race issues we face in this country then I'd bet we'd walk away good friends after a couple hours of discussions. But please don't expect me to lie down and accept the hate whitey mentality that is perpetuated daily by the the violence, music and attitudes against the white community.

When I read statements like yours - I have hope. I can't lie down either to hate statements or ignorance. We must keep fighting ignorance as we bond with those who are like-minded and hopeful. You said: "But please don't expect me to lie down and accept the hate whitey mentality that is perpetuated daily by the the violence, music and attitudes against the white community."

My parents spent their lives teaching me to turn the other cheek and look for the good in all people . . even when I was spit upon in Nashville Tennessee during the sit-ins; made to eat ice cream outside of an ice cream store in St. Louis; had friends bombed in Los Angeles because they moved into a 'white' neighborhood. Bless my parents and the leaders of my community who pointed out that ignorance and violence did not represent all 'whites'. I didn't accept the 'hate' mentality of those who espoused it then or now . . I ignored it and enjoyed the freedom of making my judgment of people based on their actions. I haven't met anyone in the two years I've been in Fayette County who has expressed views similar to yours . .at least not to my face. I appreciate your honesty. I'm so sorry the 'music' and ignorant attitudes of a few has affected you negatively regarding so many people that you might enjoy conversing with. Thank you.

Your experiences are real for sure. I have never spit in someone's face. I have not bombed anyone and I have dined next to people of color since I was a tiny tot. I hate that type of behaviour and will not and have never condoned it. You have no idea how your community has impacted my family through a rape and physical assault. We can each point our fingers. Again if we're not willing to stop using our pasts as crutches and justification against each other we will never have the hope of a peaceful existence.

I have been a life long Republican up until a couple of years ago and all I've ever heard is how racist we were and on and on and on. In fellowshipping with hundreds of these folks I rarely met anyone that harbored hate toward blacks. Were there some. Yup. A$$holes for sure. But for the rest of us our agenda was not that of hate but of fear. So I guess we have much common ground there. Anyways I'll give it another go with the hopes that we can look into the future with a true and mutual respect for each other.

Sandra, The way we ought to view people in my opion is by their character rather than their race. Let's face it. There is white trash and there is black trash. Then there's the rest of us. I would like to think you and are in the "rest of us pile".

Respectfully, The Good Ole Boy

Submitted by Davids mom on Fri, 09/01/2006 - 8:35pm.

Members of my family have been raped and lynched - but I never felt that it was the entire 'white community' that contributed to those horrendous deeds.

"any idea how your community has impacted my family through a rape and physical assault." Wow - my community raped your relative? I can't apologize for the individual that did that terrible deed.. . just as you can't apologize for the 'trash' that created havoc in my family. I think we both know 'fear' and 'distrust' . . .but I feel from your discussion that you know that ALL members of an ethnic group are not guilty of such deeds. I know that I'm not 'stronger' than you - but I have been able to rationalize that the 'south' is no longer the south that I visited when I was ten years old and had to get on the floor because some 'good ole boys' decided to 'hoop it up' and shoot up the 'black' neighborhood. I have not in any of my posts suggested that all 'white' people are ignorant and/or bigoted. If I have - please point this out to me. The 'trash' cannot rule the world.

Republican/Democrat - these political labels are used to identify what? My mother is a lifelong Republican - from the party of Lincoln, etc. I have met more Black Republicans here in Georgia than I knew existed! (Most are business men - and fiscal conservatives). I joined the Democratic party and voted for John Kennedy. I felt FDR was like a grandfather - and remember listening to his fireside chats on the radio when I was young. You have stated that you respect those African Americans that you have met. I think you have said that not all African Americans are 'trash'. I feel the same way about 'whites'. (I think that term is so non descriptive.) So how about the 'rest of us' plodding through this racial issue and demonstrate to the world that Americans can respect one another . .without name calling and or making assumptions based on 'color'.

Git Real's picture
Submitted by Git Real on Fri, 09/01/2006 - 8:52pm.

Now a days it seems like it's not the white trash shooting up and trashing the black communities. Rather now it seems the shoe is on the other foot. With that said I know you must understand how the white community feels. This has gone both ways. If you were my neighbor, and you very well might be, I'm sure we would be very good neighbors and you would find that my family would go out of our way to be good neighbors to you and your family.

But if you were one of the families of street thugs that are invading our (Sandra & Git Real) community I would fear, resent and position myself in a defensive manner against you. That's normal. 90% of us don't give a rip what the color is. We're concerned about the quality of the person. But it's scary as to the violence that is coming our way from the hateful part of the black community.

I enjoyed the discussion. Thanks for sharing. I think there are many 'good neighbors' here in Fayette County and we all can join together to fight the criminal element . . .just don't identify them by color, but by actions. The young black male that you feel is an intruder may be my son!! Smiling

Fear of the criminal element is real. The highest crime rate is Black on Black crime - the haves against the have nots. In most urban areas in the north - segregated neighborhoods prevent those of one race to criminalize others in their homes and in their communities. There is more integration here in the south than I have seen anywhere in these United States. The new developments appear to be well integrated. What is happening in Fayetty County is the business of DRUGS. It is a business that goes after our youth- regardless of color. The characters in 'In Cold Blood' were not 'black' people. Those misguided girls who killed their grandparents in Fayetteville were not 'black'. The young man who brought guns to school in Fayetteville was not 'black'. I, like you, fear these thugs who are white, black, asian, and hispanic who are bringing drugs and crime into our neighborhoods. Let's fear the criminals and support our local law enforcement in making it 'tough' for criminals to enter Fayette County. . .and they're not all 'black'.

Good Ole Boy. Yeah yeah...that's it. Sorry Sandra. As I said before, if we want to get anyhwere with race relations we have to forgive each other and to forget. Again the hard part is the forgetting and not throwing the past into each others faces all the time. I'm not sure that can be done. I got aggravated because after my post to you about reaching out I noticed that all you could bring up was slavery and repression. That's all we hear over and over and over again. Yeah we're racist, it's because of our color, etc. etc. etc.

Until we get past that crap it's going to be difficult for our communities to ever get together on common ground.

Submitted by Davids mom on Fri, 09/01/2006 - 8:06pm.

You aren't really asking anyone who has suffered to 'forget' are you? Would you ask the families who lost relatives in the ovens of Germany to 'forget'? As I stated before, we have to get over the 'guilt' and 'victimization' - but we can't forget. To forget may allow us to make the same mistakes again. The families in Japan have not forgotten the relatives they lost in W.W. II; the Americans who were forced to enter internment camps have not forgotten. Americans have not and will not 'forget' the relatives they lost in Germany, France, Italy, Korea, Viet Nam, etc., etc. There are many people here in Fayette County who have been able to relate to one another regardless of color. I have witnessed this - and I'm so grateful that I've lived long enough to see this happen in the South! I think 'southern' graciousness has a lot to do with this. Obviously I'm learning that the 'hate' exists here just as it does in other parts of our country. I'm encouraged when I see the children in my neighborhood playing together. (I also note the looks of some parents who find it strange that children appear to look past 'color' in choosing friends.)

I will never forget my life experience. I will ignore those who feel that because of the color of my skin - I may be inferior to them. I will be open to meet interesting people of all colors - and try very hard not to make judgments regarding those individuals based on what others may say. I have met many, many people here in Fayette County who feel as I do - and they are not all 'northerners' . . .and they are not all African American.

Git Real's picture
Submitted by Git Real on Fri, 09/01/2006 - 8:33pm.

Is not throwing the past back in the other persons face as a weapon of guilt or to further gain an objective. True forgiveness does forget ones transgressions.

No....I'm not saying that we ever forget slavery, the holocaust, 911 or Pearl Harbor. These events must never be forgotten. But had we constantly thrown Pearl Harbor in the face of the Japanese every time we saw them we would have never become friends with our former enemies. We study history and view the old war documentaries but we do not get in a tizzy and hold Pearl Harbor over the Japanese every time we are around them. Nor do we blame this generation every time Pearl Harbor is remembered.

Until we can put our past behind us and forgive and forget we will never find common ground. If you were to forgive me for something and you kept reminding me of it constantly and rubbing it in my face do you think your forgiveness was sincere? Wouldn't you get extremely defensive?

Submitted by Davids mom on Fri, 09/01/2006 - 8:59pm.

. . .but I feel you have selective listening. I listen to music - but seldom the songs that denigrate my race (and those songs can be heard on several radio stations here in the south). Just as some groups have talking points that constantly refer to crime rates, lack of academic achievement, etc. regarding African Americans - there are groups that are constantly putting down 'whitey'. DON'T LISTEN TO THEM if you feel those comments do not refer to you and yours. I know that I'm not less than anyone because of my color; I obey the law; I pay my taxes; etc., etc. - so those talking points to me are like 'blowing in the wind'. There is an enemy out there who would like to destroy us - but our racism will weaken us. We must conquer it - and join together as Americans - black, yellow, green, purple and white!

You said "If you kept reminding me of it constantly and rubbing it in my face do you think your forgiveness was sincere?" No - my point exactly - the talking points of some 'right wing' radio shows are convincing me that there are those who have no intention of ever accepting me as an equal - no matter how many degrees I may have; how much money I donate to charity; how hard I try to do unto others as I would have them do unto me. But they don't rule - yet. I have hope in the younger generation. They seem to be moving beyond past hurts and fears.

I listen to them and I don't hear things that indicate you won't be accepted because you are black. I hear alot of the same concerns I have expressed and we've discussed. Perhaps you don't like the fact that they point out the hypocricies of many of the so called black leaders and other prominent black racist politicians. That's what I was talking about earlier. Just because one is a Conservative and they despise government handouts and preferential treatment programs that does not make them a hate group. Heck if you listen with an regularity you will find many articulate and admirable black right wing callers discussing a wide variety of subjects. Yet they are ridiculed because they think for themselves and don't adhere to the victim mentality of the "Black Leaders".

I hope you understand that I am not lumping you in with the black trash hate whitey thugs that are the equivalent of the KKK.

Let's do this. I'll accept you as a Black middle to upper class neighbor (even though you're a Democrat LOL) and you can accept me as a White middle class guy and we'll use that as a starting point. Now that solves nothing with the rest of the issues out there unless we each work to hold our own accountable. I'll work on it if you will. Not to say I won't attack stupidity when I see it. Not stupidity from you but others.

Sandra,

Did you mean to reply to me?

Earlier, I invited you to dialog on such topics as "race relations."

Unfortunately, I find myself embroiled in the sort of schedule that, presently, is not allowing the kind of time that I would like for crafting decent posts. But I am very interested in talking about black-white relations in Fayette County. I've thought much about it. Could be wrong in the conclusions that I seem to be reaching, but would like to share them al,oud here and invite others to join the discussion.

I DON'T LIKE SOME BLACK PEOPLE AND I DON'T LIKE SOME WHITE PEOPLE,BUT YOU CAN BET IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN, IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE WAY THEY ACT AND HOW THEY CARRY THEMSELVES!!

”White American went to Africa and took our people and brought them here SO WE CAN BUILD THIS LAND”

Your Brothers sold your ancestors to the white traders. At the time, your brothers wanted to get rid of your ancestors so that they could have their lands, rule whoever was left and run their own chiefdoms.

White people didn’t go to Africa and hunt the local peoples and herd them onto ships.

They, the whites, wouldn’t have survived a day without the local chiefs encouraging this form of trade.

Yes, your ancestors were purchased by whites, from their own chiefs or warring tribes, as slaves and re-sold.

Submitted by Davids mom on Thu, 08/31/2006 - 8:19pm.

Does your explanation make it OK that 'whites' participated in 'slavery'? No one should be proud of that part of our history - or the fact that it continues today - with the bringing in of Asians to work in the sweat shops in California. Slavery was, is and ever will be wrong!

bad_ptc's picture
Submitted by bad_ptc on Thu, 08/31/2006 - 10:08pm.

Does my explanation make it okay that “blacks” participated in ‘slavery?

Not at all, my explanation was just that, an explanation.

I make no claims that what happened was either right or wrong.

I don’t care. I wasn’t there. It wasn’t me.

It was the native African people engaging in the sale of native African people, that's it.

Now you want to criticize me for what someone did 200 years ago?

I have never, don’t today and will not in the future participate in the “sale” of a person.

I was merely pointing out the fact that it was NOT white people rounding up and selling native African people to others.

STUDY YOUR HISTORY before you open your mouth and remove all doubt that you’re an idiot!

Bad_PTC has a point. It was Black-on-black crime when native African's sold our people into slavery. Today, we still have problems with black-on-black crime. It won't change until blacks accept responsiblity for our own and choose to stop the violence and hate.

Submitted by Davids mom on Sat, 09/02/2006 - 2:55am.

It's our responsibility now. No one will help us but us. . . and other 'good' people in the world who also teach their children not to hate or resort to violence. The violence in this world is not just between blacks and whites. Columbine for example. Hate has to be carefully taught - but so does respect. . . for all people. American parents and our mass media have given our children mixed messages about morality. . .but that's another discussion.

Now there's a place we can all start. What we need to do in this country is segregate the bad guys from the good guys. That's the battle that needs to be fought. I've got a feeling that if we can get the race part behind us and base all our lives on solid morals and respect for each other the battle against the bad guys would become much easier.

Thanks Ladies and have a great weekend.

One shows their level of intelligence by the words they use to express their point. It was 'white' people who put 'white' people in ovens during W.W.II - what is your point? We all should 'care' . . .it could be 'us' next.

And it's black people in Africa killing each other off with machetes and AK-47's and driving the white people out of those countries. And it's black people today who create and environment that chases white people away with their hate and crime. Gotta say that after reading your posts I'm not so sure you have a heart of reconciliation after all. I guess I should start hating Germans for driving my family out of Europe in the 1940's and taking all their belongings not to mention killing several of them. Great....my ancestor's past gives me a reason to blame everyone for any problems I have.

Until you give up that thinking we will NEVER come together as a common people.

Congrats you can play the race card now too.

If you are at the back of the line at Target or another store you can just cut to the front of the line. If someone calls you on it, scream racsim loudly, and you will get your own way. (Don't laugh this just happened the other day)
If a cop pulls you over for speeding cry racism, (even though you know you were in fact speeding) still you can say he was profiling.
Also if you don't win the Big game or lotto, now it has to be someone else's fault........you weren't given a chance.....yeah that's it....you weren't given a fair shot.

You are soooo lucky.

race crap ridiculous? This whole issue is getting so old. No wonder everyone's so cynical on both sides. I really don't have any hope for it getting any better either. My wife quit teaching in a majority black school because of the hate she experienced on a daily basis. She loved those kids to death only to be treated like crap by the parents and other teachers. It was made clear that the school was for blacks and she was not welcome there.

Their racism charges have become hollow and are no more than a justification for them to hate anyone who is not apart of their community. Look at Riverdale for example. Several weeks ago some group put up signs all over the place touting a "Town Hall Meeting" to discuss the "New Riverdale". Guess whitey won't be welcome at their water fountains.

kimberlyinptc's picture
Submitted by kimberlyinptc on Fri, 09/01/2006 - 9:40am.

More of the same. We all have experiences both good and bad with people of other races. The hard part is to keep 'turning the other cheek' when slapped in the face with racism. It's difficult for me not to judge but I do try and I'd never be openly rude or disresptful to another human without provocation. But I have been provoked. I'm sure blacks feel the same.

So, what's the answer? At the expense of sounding more like a racist than I already have...seperate but equal works for me. Communities are already racially divided for the most part. That's what 'white flight' is all about. Problem is, soon there'll be more of 'them' than 'us', so where will 'we' fly to? Obviously it would be better for 'us' if 'they' got with the program so we all could live in harmony. Sounds nice, but with so-called leaders like Ray Nagin playing to their "chocolate city" mentality...how can we ever live together in harmony?

Until we can forgive and forget with an emphasis on the forget part we are never going to be able to put our differences aside and be peaceful and accepting to one another. I guess we need to be really thankful for the strong law enforcement we have in this country or we would truly break out into a state of violent anarchy whether we wanted to or not.

You people who have been duped by Ruthie, who doesn't exist, should have known better from the start! They are just trying to drag out of you your prejudices. Muddle saw through it. Remember the guy who won a Pulitzer Prize for writing about a poor, black doper---when no such person existed? You have been had. I think it is funny. What is not funny is that there are poorly educated people of all color who only know handouts from their time of birth, who attended very poor schools and are basically ignorant--through no fault of their own. We have to do something to stop that from happening from generation to generation.

The blogs have become spiteful, meanspirited and nonproductive. It's depressing just to come here and read.

I have no respect for the people in this country who live off the government, expect handouts, and have nothing because they are too lazy to get off their butts and get a job. The most they do is walk down to the mailbox every week to get their welfare check. That's NOT something I would commend. (Is that too big of a word for you, Ruthie?) People with nothing to eat? Why is it the government's job to feed them? Why is it MY fault they aren't willing to find work? I hate it when people blame the government for their problems... Guess what? George W. Bush is NOT at fault for all the hunger and suffering in this country! And the people who are not self-sufficient and happen to rely solely on someone else to feed and clothe them, earn no respect from me.

Problem #1: President Bush is not responsible for "hundreds of people in the USA with nothing to eat". God almighty...when will people like you wake up. If my kids were hungry, I'd (to quote Scarlett O'Hara) lie, steal, cheat or kill to feed them...but I certainly wouldn't sit on my a$$ waiting for my check from the guvment.

Problem #2: Stop 'talking' like you're from a 1940's Amos & Andy movie. Plural words should have an 's' and the end, etc.

I bet you're one of those that thinks GWB caused Hurricane Katrina cause he don't like black folk. Lord, help us all.

Except protection from enemies, foriegn and domestic, Constitutional rights etc. It used to be in America that people looked out for themselves and their family.

Once Social Security started the entitlements just kept growing. When my parents were growing up in the Depression, taking government assistance was the last thing that anyone wanted to do because of the stigma attached! My how times have changed. Now many peopel think they should get free healthcare, free college education, Medicare, Medicaide, WIC, Aid to families, etc.

When you state "Bush is doing nothing but taking from the American people." you mean he is not pandering and redistributing other people's money to "the poor". Hell, help your own grandparents!

There is NO reason for anyone not to have something to eat, there are many PRIVATE charities like the Fayette samaritans and other food banks to help the truly needy. Maybe getting some education or a second job might help instead of holding out their hands!

What do you think of this, I am black, so I must be an oreo. By the way, who did you vote for? Just this past (spring/summer) season, my son's team had to pay to use the baseball park. We held practices and games on the field. Sometimes during the day and sometimes at night when we had to use the lights. Our boys were all white with the exception of one black player. In addition, Landmark's Middle School Baseball team used the field. (Not sure if they had to pay a fee as we did) In addition, it was the Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat Tournament/ Fulton County Parks and Rec which paid to bring this field back to life. It was grown over and unused for many years until then. At night I saw many children come from football practice in this park. Never did I see one white player. (Who cares anyway, they are children playing, period. Nothing more, nothing less) I don't think it's racism at all here as my son's 99% white team paid a lot of money to use that field.
P.S. We all loved the black player and his family!!! What great people they are! I wish the world was filled with more people like this family!!
