Logsdon: Pushing High Density in Peachtree City

Citizen 03/07/2006

Logsdon hasn’t been shy about his wish to annex land in the “West Village” and Monday said he hopes to annex, the entire island of unincorporated county from the current city limits west of the CSX railroad track all the way north to the Tyrone town limits.

Last week, the city mailed letters to nine property owners in that area asking if they would like to have their land annexed by the city, Logsdon said.

Now is the time to quit discussing the differences with Logsdon and Brown. Now is the time for the majority of PTC citizens to get involved as much as possible on a grass roots program to deal with Logsdon before the city is destroyed. Citizens need to form groups to act as watchdogs and participate in every council meeting. All items which may damage our city needs to be brought to the attention of the rest of the citizens. Complaints need to filed and followed through to bring attention to each issue. Once Logsdon has to deal with enough squeaky wheels then he may adjust his ways and represent his town not the developers. I am not a Brown fan but I did vote for him because I was weary when all former mayors ganged up and forced the issue. I thought this odd at the time because normally past politicians normally will stay on the sidelines. Next time keep your eyes open, listen twice as much as you speak and recognize a RAILROAD job when you see one. Oh sorry for the railroad pun Harold, but it makes two points in one.

Ofcb acted out of instinct when the former mayors jumped on Steve Brown. Most people have no idea that Joel Cowan has made millions off of Peachtree City. Chip Conner is heavily invested the Group VI. Fred Brown is tied into Pathways (formerly PCDC), and Bob Lenox had a financial relationship with Pathways.

My mother used to work in Cowan's bank a long time ago. Those guys are notorious bad boys.

I've got to say that I'm disturbed the city council hasn't done anything regarding TDK. Logsdon is finding a ton of excuses not to do anything. This has been a really bad year.

You are wasting your time trying to stop this road from being built. We weren't smart enough to see the consequences when it was first brought up (most of us, anyway). The answer is really simple: If the owner and developers want to build this thing there, then they should build a road from there to I-85 through Coweta County. It is obvious that traffic will be horrific in PTC if they don't. However, they have outsmarted us: the developers want it for more than one reason (just think a minute) and they got ahead of us. They could care less about PTC now that it is built out--which it isn't. I still expect to see a skyscraper on the lake near the Library one day.

Very good Logsdon Report! When you posted the first blog with the mayor saying he had nothing to do with the annexations, I couldn't figure out what you were doing.

This blog got me on the right page. I love how the Friday newspaper has him saying he was hands off and the 3/27/06 article clearly has him sending out invitations for property owners to annex.

I really think Logsdon got some kind of psychological problem about lying. I mean this is the fourth time there's been a 180 degree contradiction.

Nice work.

Where does McDonoughDawg keep coming up with this "Tyrone or Peachtree City" theory?? Tyrone has made no mention of wanting the property on the westside. They would have a terrible time servicing the property: 1. Not a lot of sewer capactiy 2. Limited police coverage 3. They would have to build the "northern" bridge or build and staff a fire station on the land because they can't cover that either.

We really don't need to be using scare tatics on this issue. And since when is Tyrone the enemy?? I like River Oaks and the Hamptons turned out well also - better than a lot of Peachtree City.

If the whole business of these annexations weren't so important, you would have to belly laugh at Logsdon's flip-flop double talk on the matter. The quotes out the newspaper are telling. Logsdon is a bum.

You guys take this WAY too seriously. I assume you've driven north up 74 from PTC. Tyrone has annexed right down to the northern boundries of PTC. Why would they not want this? 2ndly, where have I ever said anything bad about Tyrone? I think the owners want to be in PTC. I'm not sure PTC is in position to turn them down. As a resident of PTC, I'm not sure they should turn them down.

If being in favor of this makes me crazy, then I guess I am. I just don't see how it will stay in the County much longer, either way. I've said on more than one place, it's too dense as it is written.

Do we want the traffic problems of Roswell, Sandy Springs, and Alpharetta?
As long as all of us "little people" know what we are getting into this is great.
As long as we can keep selling homes that require an hour and a half commute one way to a decent job: this is great.

As long as we don't mind having the value of homes drop because of crime, and a school system that is 3rd in the state. We should be good with this. We should be gratefull that we are not unique or special any more.
Thank god people aren't going to Cherokee county just because their schools came out on top. For a minute I thought we would lose all of those valuable family people.
