Man facing child molestation charges

Mon, 08/21/2006 - 8:34am
By: Ben Nelms

A Fairburn man was charged Aug. 11 with child molestation and aggravated sexual battery against a six year-old Fairburn girl over a period of six weeks.

Alan L. Hemrick, 30, was charged with counts of aggravated sexual battery and child molestation, according to Fairburn Police Det. Ben Pace. Hemrick is a registered sex offender in Georgia and Alabama, Pace said.

Though subject to confidentially considerations, Pace said the young girl had reported improper touching to her mother, who in turn notified Fairburn authorities. Pace said that during the investigation, Hemrick made statements that implicated him in the molestation that spanned a period of six weeks.

Hemrick is being held without the possibility of bond in Fulton County Jail.

This man is not convicted yet. Haven't we learned anything from Mr. Karr. Many think children would not lie. How many men, fathers, friends have been accused of touching? Not sex. Touching. Once accused you will almost never receive a fair trail. I hope all those people who write their ignorant comments will not face such accusations. Or maybe they should so they can become a little more informed what is occuring in our legislation and law enforecement agencies. From all your posts I assume you have such hatred wishes from the 5 to 10 percent cases of atrocities. Have you talked with a victim, an offender, a sex offender therapist, a judge, DA. . . If you have than you may have a right for such judgements. If you are making comments from what you see in the media and TV, I suggest you conduct some research. To the educated on the subject matter you sound ignorant.

To spout off your BS Lasser. Are you that damned sick in the head that you'll stand up and fight for a sick pervert like Karr and this sexual predator that has been convicted and is a registered offender in Georgia and Alabama. Why am I even debating this with a fool like you. Good grief.

Mr. Karr as you politely call that piece of s#!t that pretends to be a human being invited all that on himself. The man lived for that attention. And do you think for one moment that while that sick bas+@rd was in Thailand he wasn't preying on young kids. That man (and I use that term loosely) needs to be locked up forever if not put out of his misery for the protection of children around the world.

As far as that child molester Hemrick goes he deserves to die in my opinion. How can anyone molest a 6 year old girl. Calling that rape would be too kind of a term to use for Hemricks evil crimes. He never, never, never should see the light of day again.

If that sounds hateful then I say you're damned right it is. I HATE evil people that prey on innocent children. If guilty he deserves to die. Furthermore, I don't have to talk to an offender nor would I ever want to hear one out. Do you realize how stupid you sound.

Dang it.....You p!&& me off with your defense of these predators. If someone molests my child I'm going to kill the SOB. And I'll bet I can find a person on the jury who will nullify the charges against me.

Man.....You registered less than an hour and a half to contribute that crap? Well Spear Road Guy will probably come out and call me a blog bully on this one but you deserve to be bullied off of here.

I just thought this was amusing ..... Karr's brother said that he was elated that his brother wouldn't be charged with Jon Benet's murder and that his family would be celebrating about the recent news.
Um sir, the recent news is that while your sicko brother may not have killed Jon Benet, he is a seriously creepy guy who is interested in having sex with girls as young as age four. I wouldn't be celebrating much, in fact, I might disown the guy as a brother and I certainly wouldn't want him within a country mile of my kids, heck, any kids for that matter.

You are 100% right if someone did that to my child I have few ways to take care of him shooting him would be to nice. He should be put in general population and have the guards turn away for a while with a 300lb bubba. That would be that!! Being a bully on this one is a O K. We should get that guy of this site fast.

There is not a jury in Fayettenam that would ever convict you lion.

You sure would have been handy to have on a jury during the Salem witch trials! Don't get all excited, just try them in court.

And forget solitary - they get to sleep with the general population.
Everyone here sees it, why are the authorities so blind?
Georgia now has a sex offender law that says when a 17 yo girl ahs sex with an 18 yo male, the male can't live near a church - but it still fails to prevent this kind of stuff?

It is common knowledge that offenders cannot be rehabilitated - why was this guy out?
How did he have access to his victim?
Are there any predators living in PTC?

Submitted by book worm on Thu, 09/07/2006 - 11:55am.

Not sure about predators, but there are several people on the SOR in PTC and how many of them have been living there under your noses and comiting new sex crimes. The majority want to be left alone and try to fit back into society, just like any other ex-con who doesn't want to go back into the system.

Submitted by Flydecajon on Thu, 08/31/2006 - 8:06am.

If you go to the nation sex offender page and type in you zip and yes there are. http://www.familywatchdog.us/

Submitted by IMNSHO on Thu, 09/07/2006 - 2:24pm.

Family Watchdog is not the best source of sex offender information. I discovered that when I was doing a search on the GBI website. To do a search yourself, go to http://services.georgia.gov/gbi/gbisor/SORSearch.jsp and fill in no info except the county and check "no" for incarcerated.

Agree with your comment he shouldn't be on the streets. However, I believe a combination of all the suggestions below might be better than his just sitting in jail. This guy is less than scum.

This sick person has been convicted of a sexual assault type crime at least twice. Why is he on the streets? Sexual predators do not rehabilitate. They must be locked up or they will molest again, hence this new arrest. Maybe the DA's office will get their heads out of their a**es and recommend some serious jail time rather than hurrying it off the docket and letting him have probation again.

Please, enlighten us where you found your information? I wonder if Mr. Hemrick was in therapy? He was on the SOR (Sex Offender Registry) in Alabama and Georgia. His Alabama notification shows he was living in Smyrna and his Georgia notification shows he was in Fairburn. So this is the first indication he was attempting to abscond. With a recent release date, he most likely was absconding from therapy as well, meaning he did not want therapy. This should have been a red flag to his local probation or parole officer. Perhaps, they are so busy chasing low-risk ex offenders who have completed therapy and court guidelines away from churches and school bus stops, and he just fell through the cracks of the system. Apparently, HB1059 in fact is making our children less safe.

We must have more faith in ourselves than in government to solve the sex abuse problem. Citizens, communities, journalist, media personalities, and legislators should demand a National Sex Offender Public Policy Forum to address these issues. This would help state and local governments formulate workable, cost effective laws that protect the rights of all citizens. Forums should include mental health professionals, jurist, law enforcement and corrections personnel, victims and their families, offenders and their families. The offender’s families are secondary casualties of ill-conceived laws. In lieu of fostering a fearful witch-hunt mentality for advertising dollars and higher ratings, the media needs to step up to this societal challenge. They should strive to dispel the myths and create the environment for policy and subsequent legislation to succeed, creating a safe society for all children.

At the end of the day, registration and proximity laws for low risk offenders, former offenders and their wives, children, parents and siblings will only construct an entire group of disenfranchised or second-class citizens in the United States, deprived of the basic rights and liberties afforded other ex-convicts and their families. Are we positive, as a society, this is the legacy we want to leave to future generations? Which group will be next?

I invite you to read The Impact of Residency Restrictions on Sex Offenders and Correctional Management Practices: A Literature Review; by Marcus Nieto, Senior Research Specialist and Professor David Jung, Public Law Research Institute, Hastings Law School, published by the California Research Bureau. Perhaps you can answer why are we more comfortable with myths than facts. How does demonizing an entire group of people create value for society?

Who gives a crap if he was in therapy! If he was, it obviously isn't working! He's being charged with aggravated sexual battery on a child! It doesn't matter to be what crimes he has committed to get himself on the sex offender registry. It could have been flashing, I don't care. But I would be willing to bet that it was a crime that is more extreme as he has molested a child. He is a sex offender, no matter what. Bleeding hearts like you are the ones that help keep these people out of jail so that they can get "help". If they molest a child, they need to be in jail. If they get help there, great, but they don't deserve the opportunity to get help on the outside. And before you ask how I know, I was a probation officer that supervised sex offenders. So I know what these guys are like. Get a clue.

What has made the US survive so far is not a bunch of platitudes like you spit out, but hard economic times, wars to fight, education of the public by regulated means, the great depression, and plenty of natural resources. Most of our great leaders who built this country never heard of such stuff as you suggest. Keep people efficiently busy and they won't do this crazy stuff.

Submitted by ZMan on Tue, 08/29/2006 - 10:23pm.

Why don't you do your homework before spewing the hatred from your mouth. This guy, if he keeps offending, should be in jail and getting help.

People can be cured, and if you think they can't, you need to wise up.

I agree, violent predators should be locked up until they are deemed safe to enter society, and I mean safe. People can get help, and do all the time.

Many people labeled a "sex offender" are labeled as such due to using the bathroom in a park behind a tree or something and get caught, or a 17 year old, having consensual sex with his 15 year old girlfriend.

Please, do not get me wrong, people who kill kids, molest them should be locked up, but not everyone labeled a "sex offender" is like this guy.

People who moon someone, can be locked up, labeled a "sex offender" and their life ruined, and believe me, it does and has happenned.

Why don't you back up the stuff you are saying with facts? It's people like you people who make life hell for everyone.

The policitians are using "sex offenders" as a scapegoat, and if society accepts the crazy laws being passed, eventually they'll pass a DUI Registry, Drug Dealer/User Registry, Murderer Registry, Prostitute Registry, Gang Member Registry, etc. If you don't think it will happen, you just wait and see, mark my words for it.

So next time you are mooning someone, or urinating in the woods, you better think twice about it. When you get slammed with the "sex offender" label, I guarentee you'll be screaming.

I know, because I'm labeled as such, due to me being in my own apartment, and some ladies 11 year old kid was peeking into my window, and saw me get out of the shower, and went and told her mother. I've never touched a kid, never plan on it, and I'm having to suffer as if I was a darn pedafile, predator, etc. This is total BS.

Please do not be quick to judge someone.

I agree with you, this guy should be put in jail, and not let out, until he has received mandatory treatment, and re-evaluated to see if he's still a danger, and if he is, he should not be let out in the 1st place, but, EVERYONE deserves a second chance. Murderers get second chances.

Also the registries only make "sex offenders" life hell, because vigilante's are out there killing people, taking the law into their own hands, and it puts offenders, and the family and KIDS of offenders lives in jeapordy, it doesn't just affect offenders.

We need to stop spreading the hate, like you are. What goes around, comes around.

This is a quote from Adolph Hitler:

"The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation." -Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler, Publ. Houghton Miflin, 1943, Page 403.

Believe me, this is what many politicians are doing, to see what society will accept, and it will only get worse, if we accept it.

They need to rewrite the law, the way it is now, it is total crazy.

Just remove the "sex offender" label, and replace it with "DUI offender", and then you'll see how crazy it is.

I am not trying to defend violent predators, I'm just trying to get people to think.... Now are you going to not be one sided, and look at the law as it currently is, then decide on if it's fair?

Again, not all people on the sex offender registry is some crazy lunatic hiding behind a bush, waiting for your kid to come by.

Peace and God Bless!!

I have always been an advocate of the "Daddy Law." This often considered law would allow one or two responsible fathers of comprable aged children to visit the accused in his cell. The fathers would be allowed to counsel this person, both verbally and physically to ensure that he learn the value our society places on the family and little girls. If the perp goes "toes up," tough.

I've always thought this was a good tactic, when he has a court appearance, and there is a break, tell this as*&%*# to take a little walk, stretch out the kinks - then blow his behind away for trying to escape, no questions asked, case closed.

Or, better yet, I think it was Lewis Grizzard who had a good remedy for folks like this, had something to do with a stump, rusty nail, fire, and a dull razor blade.

Bet there are many other good ideas out there for scuzbuckets like this guy.

So that's how to solve the problem, shoot them? Go back to friggin' Germany where you below. What about the DUI offenders, Drug Dealer/User, Gang Member, Murderer, Gays, I guess you'd want to kill all them as well?

Someone should shoot you for being so stupid! It's thinking like you have the world is so F'ed up today.

Submitted by skyspy on Wed, 08/30/2006 - 7:31am.

The answer is yes: gang members, murderers, and drug dealers should be shot. I think DUI offenders can actually be rehabilitated.

I don't think a true sex offender can. This belief is based on a talk I heard in college by a forensic pyschologist. He said that they could not be rehabed, but that most of his colleagues would have us believe that they could, just to make money.

When I say true sex offenders I mean the ones who actually touch a kid. Not peeing in a park, or mooning someone. I agree with you there. It is ridiculous that those things are considered a "sex offence".

How could you lump gay people in with criminals? That tells me you are full of hate yourself. They decorate and remodel homes beautifully. We could use alot of them here PTC to clean up these tired frumpy dumpy family homes.

eodnnaenaj1's picture
Submitted by eodnnaenaj1 on Wed, 08/30/2006 - 7:26am.

Naw, my real solution wouldn’t be to shoot them that would be too quick and easy. I’d actually rather see them suffer long, slow, and painfully like the children had to suffer. I’m actually beginning to think the best way to deal with criminals is for their punishment to be – what they did to another person, will now be done to them, that seems fair.

Further, I quite understand and accepting of people and their problems, I believe there is a ray of hope in most people. I’ve dealt with sorrya%& drunks, known druggies and dealers, have had gays as co-workers/friends, and have gone nearly to the gates of hell for them, so don’t go off on me buddy.

That your demons still haunt you and you are obviously very sick, hateful and troubled, I regret for you. That you would attack several of us who voiced opinions about a child molester demonstrates that you are not in touch with reality.

Finally, I think you make several of us sick!

Just so there’s no misunderstanding, I’m Druid, not Christian.

I have absolutely none of your “Christian” hang-ups” when it comes to killing something that needs dieing!

And now to the meat of the biscuit.

When you can show evidence, from any accredited source, that says the these child molesting perverts can be “rehabilitated” I’ll read it.

Until then, they’re the next best things to coyotes I can think of.

Meaning they should they should be shot on sight and not be a drain on humanity!

How about a quick & speedy trial and then a good lynching. At least this guy's not in Fayette County. Maybe the Fulton System will put him under the jail where he belongs.

Can anyone imagine???? My goodness what irreversible damage has this child experienced. Why isn't there more outrage in these molestation cases. Dang it...I still say an abused dog or cat would drum up more attention and outrage.

I myself was molested when I was young, by my brother. At one time, I wanted to personally stick a gun in his mouth and pull the trigger. I was so pissed at him, but only letting hate get the best of you does not solve anything. But, he's my brother, and I forgave him. He's my brother and I love him.

I guess you belong to the KKK or something huh? Witch hunts do NOT solve the problem. Thinking rational, and thinking things thru.

ZMan,

Let's just say that I am stupid and that I belong to the KKK. Perhaps my KKK training has made me an expert at witch hunts and you have got me all figured out. Congrats on pinning me down. I know that makes me a terrible human being and I'm much worse than some {{{{Edited}}}} that would molest a little 6 year old girl. Shame on me. What grade in school should I go back to my friend?

Now for you. You ZMan are a very, very, very, sick individual if you believe and standby all you've written regarding these sex crimes. You need help really bad. I'm sorry you were victimized by your brother. How sick is that? You are living proof how these sick {{{Edited}}}'s pemanently damage their victims far beyond the physical aspects of their sick, selfish and perverted crimes. Perhaps it's good that you've reconciled with your brother. If I were you I would be damned sure to be very careful at family gatherings and not allow him to get out of sight with your kids at any given time. Go get yourself some help and quit condoning this behaviour. Who the hell are you anyways? John Mark Karr?

PTCGV beat me to the lottery idea. Great minds think alike.

I say we hold a lottery to see who gets to “inject” this individual with “the cure”, $1.00/ticket, with all proceeds going to assist the victim.

P.S. if the first winner misses, then another number should be drawn. This keeps on going until we get to someone who can aim.
