In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful:

Thousands of Muslims nationwide join MAS freedom on Aug. 12 demonstration.

MAS Freedom preparing Muslim community, interfaith leaders and civil rights activists for march on DHS.

As communities worldwide on Aug. 12 protested the death and destruction in Lebanon and Palestine, tens of thousands in the U.S. joined MAS Freedom Foundation (MAS Freedom) for major demonstrations throughout the nation.

Muslims turned out in record numbers for the historical emergency March on Washington with thousands also rallying and marching in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Denver.

The demonstrations were sponsored by MAS Freedom Foundation, the A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition and the National Council of Arab Americans (NCA).

MAS Freedom Foundation Executive Director Mahdi Bray stated, “I felt that our MAS chapters did a wonderful job in mobilizing the Muslim community, especially since we only had three weeks to prepare.”

Additionally, the response by imams, mosques and local Muslim community leaders was phenomenal. Bray noted, “It is crucial that we maintain this intensity and return to our communities fully committed to the pursuit of justice for Muslims and all people, at home and abroad. As I’ve so often said, when the rally ends, that’s when the real work begins.”

MAS Freedom is currently planning, with the interfaith community, civil liberties groups and traditional civil rights organizations like the NAACP, a major rally and march on the Department of Homeland Security.

The march will focus on the violation of the civil rights and civil liberties of the American Muslim community. The actual date and time of the march and rally are expected to be announced later this week.

This direct action campaign is being planned in response to the outrage the American Muslim community has expressed towards their treatment as law-abiding citizens by DHS, and the failure of the Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Division of DHS to protect American Muslims’ constitutional rights.

If you would like to volunteer or assist in the mobilization effort for this important event, please call MAS Freedom at 202-496-1288.

MAS Freedom wishes to thank the thousands of Muslims across the country that responded to and supported the Aug. 12 action. We look forward to your continued support as we mobilize to deliver to DHS a strong and unequivocal message: that for the American Muslim, second-class citizenship is not an option.

The Freedom Foundation is the public affairs arm of the Muslim American Society (MAS), a national grassroots religious, social, and educational organization. MAS is America’s largest grassroots Muslim organization with over 50 chapters nationwide. Learn more at www.masnet.org. In this world of separation of church and state and higher power forbid anyone display the 10 commandments in a public building or allow school prayer, why run a letter that offend me and my beliefs?

"In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful:"

The letter states "As communities worldwide on Aug. 12 protested the death and destruction in Lebanon and Palestine," I notice they do not protest Hezbullah or Iranian statemets to eliminate Israel!

What a great organization they team with. Did you know who runs A.N.S.W.E.R.?

Act Now to Stop War & End Racism Steering Committee:
IFCO/Pastors for Peace
Free Palestine Alliance - U.S.
Haiti Support Network
Partnership for Civil Justice - LDEF
Nicaragua Network
Alliance for Just and Lasting Peace in the Philippines
Korea Truth Commission
Muslim Student Association - National
Kensington Welfare Rights Union
Mexico Solidarity Network
Party for Socialism and Liberation
Middle East Children's Alliance

They have a great goal: "pursuit of justice for Muslims and all people, at home and abroad." I want justice for all people, including kidnapped Israeli soldiers and victims of Katusa rocket attacks as well as innocent human shields.

Can they provide any examples of "violation of the civil rights and civil liberties of the American Muslim community"? I certainly see no mass deportations, internments, etc.

Sorry, but until MAS protests the radical facists that are spreading terror around the world and start turning in suspects like the brave muslim in England did I do not believe any paper should forward their cause. Not all muslims are terrorists, but the majority of terorists are muslim. Look at the horror of Beslan, has MAS protested or denounced that?

For the rights or welfare of non-Muslims.

They only protest when Muslims die.

Kill a bus load of non-Muslim children. Silence

Fly planes into buildings. Silence.

Try to blow planes out of the air. Silence.

Capture ships and kill non-Muslims. Silence.

Mass slaughter of Christians within a county. Silence.

Hypocrisy and playing on the harp strings of self-blinded liberals.

PTC Guy has no Concern for the truth. He's on a mission from God. His Religion is better than everyone else's religion, don'tcha know.

PTC Guy is mistaken when he claims that Muslims were not outraged when planes slammed into buildings.

Muslim Condemnation of 9/11

I checked out the link.

OF COURSE there are Muslims who were outraged, and outraged IN VIRTUE of the fact that they are Muslims.

One lingering question is WHICH Muslims genuinely represent the tradition. On one reading, the ones of good will are to Islam what, say, Unitarians are to Christianity. Smiling I would like to believe differently and think that the "extremists" are just that. But the latter claim Koranic support, and I guess I am not qualified to weigh in. Further, the rhetoric heard from rather large crowds of Muslim demonstrators--over the Danish cartoons, for example--was not the sort of stuff that John Lennon would have written. They weren't poking daisies into rifles.

But I do like the Major's line: "Not all Muslims are terrorists, but most terrorists are Muslims." That being so, it is understandable, I think, that a lot of us are having a hard time with it all.

The 'Extremist' do have such support. It is the minority that does not have it.

I posted the sutras, before, that show the Koran says Jews and Christians are to be enslaved, killed, converted or driven out. They are enemies of Islam and seek to deceive Islam.

One really needs to study Islam before trying to defend it. Those who have see it for what it is.

Just look at France and Britain, in example, for what happens when they gain enough numbers to have an impact. The become Islamic and want Sharia Law.

Some had been there for generations. But they ALWAYS remained separate and never integrated.

Christian hater.

Saudi Arabia, prime financier of terrorism and those trying to wipe Israel off the map.

Qualified anger, after outrage at their silence.

Immediate reaction was celebration and dancing in the streets of many nations.

Now we live in a world where Muslims are trying conquer nations and impose Sharia Law.

Learn about Islam before you speak.
