Upset woman runs into customers at McDonald's

ATHENS — Athens-Clarke County police are looking for a disgruntled McDonald's customer who ran into two other customers with her car after a dispute over who was next in line to order breakfast.

Police say 34-year-old Melinda Ann Thomas and 51-year-old Linda Ann Thomas were standing in a crowded line about 8:30 a.m. Saturday as they waited to order breakfast. A cashier opened a new line and they stepped to the front of it — a move that angered at least one customer waiting for her chance to order.

Witnesses told police the woman left the restaurant before the Thomases and stayed in the parking lot, sitting in her dark blue Jeep Cherokee.

As the Thomases made their way to their car, witnesses said the woman pulled out of her parking space, backed up and then sped toward the ladies — striking them both with the passenger side of the Jeep. The report says neither woman was injured severely.

Police are looking for the woman on charges of aggravated assault.

This is not a slam on Chick-Fil-A, Mike, or Allen, but that happens everyday at the Highway 54 location in Peachtree City. It has become a walk in and hang around the register area and then dart for the next available cashier situation. I have NOT seen fights, but I have witnessed evil looks, rude comments, and frustratited remarks. I will also say that I have witnessed some generousity as well as polite workings through the situation. Not as much as the bad stuff though. I just really wish there could be a better way. Maybe a que (is that how that is spelled) with an available associate calling the next customer. The lobby is large enough for it.

Even with the addition of two new Chick-Fil-A's in town by Christmas, I do not think this problem will go away, as associates are proportionate to customers.

Again, not slamming Chick-Fil-A or any employee/manager. Just stating that people do the same thing here locally without the alleged criminal acts.

It has always been an irritation for me at McDonalds. They don't have nice traffic control posts like, say, Taco Bell.
In any such establishment there should always be one "lane", and first in line is first served by next available cashier. And this could be easily accomplished with the tape stands like we see at airports.
Seems McDonalds prefers to let it be a freeforall behind the counter.

Now on the real side, here we have a small annoyance causing bodily injury.
The offender - if caught - needs to be punished then required to attend anger management, group hugging sessions.
Sheesh, imagine if she had been armed.

Uh - has anybody shown the victims any mug shots? Would McKinney have been in those shots?
