High School Marijuana Club gets off to smokin' start

Basmati's picture

Looks like there was quite a turnout for the initial meeting of the MHS Marijuana club yesterday. There were about 13-15 tokers on five golf carts parked on the hill between the Kedron Aquatic Center and the Ardenlee tunnel yesterday after school around (go figure) 4:20 p.m. Quite a number of freshman appeared to have joined the club this year.

No word on if the nearby cross-country runners got a contact high from the vast purple haze cloud.

25 years ago at MHS. What McIntosh isn't 25 years old? Morrow High School qualified doesn't it? I remember those days......The big difference is, folks just got high in their cars, and then drove them home...

Well, most freshman don't have driver's licenses so cars would be problmatic.

Maybe this was the junior varsity pot team?

As long as they are not damaging property or hurting other people who cares? Their parents obviously don't care, why should the rest of us?
Even if you see them using stronger drugs,(crack meth, heroin) who cares as long as they don't hurt anyone else, let them hurt themselves. Let them do themselves in, same goes for a teen riding around without a seatbelt on. Why tell? Let them do themselves in. Their own crime will punish them, its perfect.

..but they are hurting others and damaging property.Because Juvenile court proceedings are closed to the public and records and facts about juveniles are kept confidential, as they should be, you and others miss pieces of the puzzle. So listen to our county officials when they say there is a drug problem in our communities.

Skyspy, I can appreciate the theory - Darwinism at it's finest. The dumbest ones kill themselves off before they have a chance to produce dumb offspring.

But, ever been to Amsterdam? Or other larger dutch cities? The coffee shop neighborhoods are not exactly pleasant places to be all the time.
Or Zuerich when drug use was tolerated?

The users are not the only ones. The sellers, the dealers, the importers, the thieves looking for drug money - they all come out of the woodwork as soon as a market is present.

No, I don't really mind if people destroy their lives, just don't ask me to live where they do it or pay for the cleanup.

I think zero tolerance is an appropriate policy here.

So Basmati, did you do anything about it? Notify police? Or do you just find this amusing for some unknown reason?

What did I do? I wrote a blog entry about it!

I didn't witness this first hand, if I had, I of course would have made 13-15 citizen's arrests. I actually overheard two girls who are trying out for the cross country team complaining about all the pot smokers on the cart paths after school when they go running.

Since the PTC police monitors this site (when they're not impersonating 14 year old girls in chat rooms) I thought this would be a good way of tipping them off.

Probably goes on every day around school, but it is shift change at the poelice station and they don't want to be around McIntosh at that hour!

Keep up. The PTC police are now on 10 hour shifts, and the shifts overlap some. So at 4pm each day, there are actually *more* officers available, not less. **insert sarcastic tone here** And you have heard how they supposedly harrass teens, right?

I don't know about the event, but the post was pretty funny!

One tip for Basmati, drop the bit about the cross country runners. The bit about the freshmen closes the deal perfectly, and continuing past that point just takes away from the impact. Otherwise, it's hilarious!
