Blades on string trimmers sold at Lowe’s can detach

MTS Southwest is recalling Troy-Bilt 4-Cycle Gasoline String Trimmers sold nationwide at Lowe’s from January 2006 to March 2006.

The blade that trims the excess string of these weed trimmers can detach from the plastic shield. The blade can be thrown outward resulting in a laceration.

The recalled handheld string trimmer is powered by a 4-cycle gasoline engine. Model numbers TB425CS and TB525CS and “Troy-Bilt” are printed on the body of the muffler housing.

Girls’ hooded sweatshirts pose strangulation hazard

Quiksilver Inc., of Huntington Beach, Calif. is recalling Hide & Seek Hooded Sweatshirts sold nationwide from November 2005 to January 2006.

A drawstring is threaded through the hood, posing a strangulation hazard.

The sweatshirts are pink, white, brown, navy or green with a beaded heart logo and embroidered flowers on the front above the left pocket. “ROXY GIRL” is printed on the collar label. The style number 484241 (some with an M, N or NN after the number) is located on the garment’s hangtag and/or the individual packaging label.

Consumers can receive a full refund by returning the sweatshirts to the place of purchase or by mailing the sweatshirts to: Quiksilver Inc., Attention: Consumer Replacements/Recalled Merchandise, 5600 Argosy Circle, Suite 300, Huntington Beach, Calif. 92649. Returns must include the consumer’s name, address and telephone number so Quiksilver can reach them.

Fuel tank on snowthrowers can leak gasoline

The Toro Company is recalling Snow Commander and CCR Single Stage Snowthrowers sold nationwide from September 2000 to March 2006. The plastic fuel tank can crack and leak gasoline, posing a risk of fire and injury.

Description: This recall involves 2001 and 2002 Toro Snow Commander and CCR model snowthrowers. Model and serial numbers are listed at http://www.toro.com/safety/recall.cgi -

Consumers should contact their local Toro Authorized Service Dealer to schedule a time to install a free replacement fuel tank.

Cough & cold vapor pads pose adverse health effects

The Mentholatum Company is recalling WellPatch® Cough & Cold Soothing Vapor Pads due to potential serious adverse health effects that could result if the product is ingested by a child removing the patch and chewing on it.

The product is sold nationwide over-the-counter at pharmacies and retail stores.

This recall affects only the Cough & Cold Soothing Vapor Pads. Consumers should immediately discontinue use of this product and return it to their point of purchase for a full refund or discard it.

Dear The Citizen,

Please add the TDK Extension to this list. The road poses a danger of strangling traffic and is a choke hazard!
