Harmony Village

What happened to PTC Finest living at Harmony Village. When it was first opened I remember they were suppose to have PTC Police living at Harmony Rent free...before the name changed, is this not a fact anymore?

The Harmony Village management no longer wants a Peachtree City Officer living there. As I understand it, no city officer has lived there for several years. Poor move on their part if you ask me.

Saw your google maps link. Wondered if I could just cut to the chase and ask you if you knew if this was possible or not. I read the links page but it went over my limited grey matter very quickly.

I run a website with over 500 members. I'd love to convert the addresses in my database, I assume its in some type of usuable format, to a google map to show where in Georgia all of these shyster lawyers live who are members.

I'd like to do this without actually having to add each one, but to automatically add them into the map when they sign up.

Thank you for your expert advice.

I e-mailed the link so I can work on it at WORK. I'm hoping Cal & Co get's that mapping thingy mafloggy figured out. The mapping potential could be endless. Can you imagine a link tracking Peter Pfeifer's Placard Pickup's Polling Place Placement?

Thought that might git ya. I e-mailed that link to myself. I'm going to check it out at work for a project. Great idea.

Perhaps have several maps. One for reported crimes. Child molester map. Suspicious areas map. And finally a map for the ghetto thugs to lead them to hot prospective crime sites.....where of course we will be hiding in the bushes with our fire extinguishers awaiting pinata time.

We use it at work for our marketing and compliance folks. Their in the field and they can just hit our site to see where they need to go. We add msgs. to the links so they have additional info. before they show up to a clients business.

Our officers deserve a peaceful place to live just like everyone else. They have a stressful job and need rest.
Before we let a developer add on to the west annex, let's make them buy crimony villiage and convert it into luxury lofts. Then they can make a killing in the west annex, but make them do something positive for us first.
I know they are not the only problem, believe me with what has happened lately in my neighborhood I feel like a live in the fifth ward of PTC.

The issue is not what happened years ago. Let's face the facts about what is happening today. None of these predators that are preying on our county on a consistent basis are from Smokerise. What is it with you and your love for predators and apartments?

I can’t swear to it but I’m rather sure John Q. Public can't legally own a taser. He can carry a 44 mag. but not a taser. Sounds kind of strange I know.

Blogger Not Again makes a good point. How about doing a story on which neighborhoods originate the most crime?

What if Harmony Village is not #1?

We publish our police blotter every Wednesday, with street addresses along with the suspects' name and age. This would give you a good feel.

And no, it's not entered into a database. Back when I went to J-school, e-mail was just starting to come into gauche.

One word of caution, however, we don't get many details on those who commit juvenile crime and that would give us a better picture of where some of the criminals live.

Submitted by skyspy on Sat, 08/05/2006 - 7:38am.

Can we add a quick link to the police blotter online. It is a challenge to find it sometimes.
I know they can't give us the names of the kids, but can they at least release the address? These kids are becoming increasingly violent we should have a right to know where they live. I know the criminals have more rights than we do. It doesn't seem fair.

I have yet to find it online - any clues?

I also have a hard time finding the police blotter online. What's the easiest way to find it?

... But no promises. In an ideal world it would have its own link off the front page.

Being that this is a WEB site, i.e. a computer, how about the webmistress link the address into a “google map” of PTC so when the user clicks on the “crime” link it will place pushpins showing the address where the crime occurred and the address of the perp? (Cal, you should love this one.)

On top of that, have a link to display all for a given range of dates, like this week, past month, past year.

I understand that this is a fair amount of code but it’s really not that hard to do. The data still has to be entered manually anyway and this way the “Police blotter” section would just have to read the values from a table.

You make it sound so easy!

We don't have the numerics on street addresses, so virtual "pushpins" wouldn't work.

There was an article in Popular Science recently about the use of GPS units in cop cars, ambulances and fire engines. They linked to a web site the community could view and see *LIVE* where units were dispatched and what type of call they were working. It was FANTASTIC!

I know this would be well-received by the community here but it would give the enterprising criminal a leg up in terms of knowing where the cops are. There might be a way around that, I don't know. It would be tough to adopt something like that here I would imagine.

I'd try to find the article online but PopSci's online presence is horrible. Anyone out there that can post the link gets an autographed certified John Munford police blotter.

Can we replace the church quick link with the police blotter so we can read it online? Then I will have something new to feed my cynical sarcastic attitude.

Go to: http://www.peachtree-city.org/police

Along the left side of the page are several blue-grayish buttons (rectangles). Click on the one that says "Annual Reports".

It lists all the crime in both 2004 and 2005. Crime actually dropped slightly from 2004 to 2005. However, I'd be very surprised if it hasn't jumped in 2006.

Have heart, though, because school is about to start again, and most of the kids will be busy, Their older loser friends who can't get into college will go back to their ghettos and trailer parks to sit around and wait until next summer.

Crime is dramatically lower in colder weather. That holds true for the entire nation. Criminals are inherently lazy people, and don't want to get out when it's cold.

Message to criminals: You should have listened to your teachers: Stay in school, dummies!

Interesting reading!

The PTC Police fired 35 rounds to dispatch 20 deer and 1 dog last year, the vast majority on Robinson road.

The actually have a database analyzing complaints against officers and disciplined two officers whose conduct was getting out of hand.

They have six drug deal informants (on the payroll?).

45 internal affair investigations, 4 'sustained", 2 "partially sustained", the rest were exonerated or unfounded. one referral for "unethical conduct", one for "rudeness to citizens".

With the exceptions of GOLF CART theft and TRAFFIC related crimes, all other crime went up from 2004 to 2005..

I like the idea of pinpointing the area of the crime so the legally armed (tasers or .44 magnums or whatever) citizens can meet there and discuss deterents with the passersby on the cart path. Might help. Might make the seniors who just want to take a walk or golf cart ride feel safe. Don't they deserve that? Why should my mother or grandmother be a hostage in her house because of some hoodlum on the cart path?

John, if Cal can lookup the value of a home, he can get the street numbers.

Remember?

Anyway, the longitudes and latitudes can be entered in place of street numbers. Google will provide that info as well.

Think of it as a community service.

While it's true that some crimes here in PTC are committed by rich white kids, most aren't. Such a big deal was made about the teen killing several weeks ago with the paper reporting the average cost of a home in Centennial, etc. But didn't the 'illedged' shooter's myspace say he wanted to be a 'gangsta'? I don't understand the appeal the black/gangsta culture has to some of these 'rich white kids'. They run around with their huge pants falling off their a$$es and trying so hard to sound like Ludacris or Fifty Cent. I just do not get it. Aren't there any cool white people (whose pants fit) to emulate and aspire to be? I guess my point is, the thugs and criminals might not always be boys from the hood, but their heros probably are. It seems a large segment of our society seems ok with that. Sorry, I'm not.
