Assailant strikes fourth time in Fayette The same man believed to be involved in three other armed robberies in Fayette County has struck again, police said. This time, the robber accosted a woman in the parking lot of the SouthCrest Bank in Fayetteville on North Glynn Street Friday around 10:46 a.m., police said. The victim and several witnesses positively identified the robber as the same person in the sketch created from the robbery of the Herb Shop in Peachtree City last week. The same man is also believed to have been involved in the robberies of the Herb Shop in Fayetteville’s Hudson Plaza July 11 and the Blimpie restaurant in the Fayette Pavilion July 24, police said. The robber threatened the victim, saying he had a gun although he failed to show the gun, police said. He then snatched the money from her before running off, police said. The robber is described as a black male wearing a black T-shirt, baggy black jean pants, black shorts and a black hat with a New York Yankees logo, police said. The assailant got away with “a large amount of money” because the victim was at the bank to make a deposit, said Fayetteville police Lt. Beverly Trainor. But he also may have given police more clues, as police got a description of a vehicle he got into after leaving the bank parking lot on foot, going through the wooded area into the Habersham subdivision, police said. The vehicle was described as a maroon Jeep Cherokee that was possibly driven by a white female, police said. Police were on the scene within two minutes of receiving the 911 call, Trainor said. Peachtree City Police Chief James Murray said a man matching the description of the perpetrator in the Herb Shop robbery there was caught on videotape robbing another store in Hiram recently. The victim in that case also positively identified the assailant as matching the sketch produced from the Peachtree City Herb Shop robbery. login to post comments |
