Jack Smith is fair, honest and effective

By: Letters to the ...

I’m writing to encourage voters in Fayette County to ... consider voting for Jack Smith as the best hope for a fair, honest and effective commissioner.

I’ve known Jack Smith for nearly 20 years and have always known him to have a keen mind for quickly assessing any issue and coming up with a clear-headed solution that works.

Jack Smith has been a tireless supporter of our community and voluntarily served in many capacities in the Chamber of Commerce and other civic groups. In each of those roles he always seemed to be a humble participant, preferring others get credit for successful projects in which many of us know he was a driving force.

Jack Smith has been a first-rate certified public accountant in Fayette County for as long as I’ve known him. He genuinely cares about the little guy and has helped many small businesses with his expertise. His easy-going, personable manner is just what is needed to help heal the divisiveness that has arisen in Fayette County. He’s not a “politics as usual” guy and his integrity is above reproach.

Finally, and most importantly, Jack is a family man deeply devoted to his wife and children. It’s something you can see for yourself whenever he’s with them.

I wasn’t asked by anyone to write this letter. I have nothing against any of the other candidates. Jack, himself, doesn’t even know I’ve sent this to the paper. It’s just that I like Jack Smith and want to speak up for him. Many others in the community feel the same way. Those of you who don’t know Jack Smith are missing something special. Please get to know him and give him your vote for County Commissioner.

Jack is certainly the obvious choice in this race. A all-male commission chaired by Peter Pfifer will be able to conduct business economically and without controversy. Not that Linda Wells was responsible for the last couple of years - that was all Dunn and all she did was sit and watch. Dunn's defeat tells all of them what the voters expect and Jack and Eric will be the moral compass of the new group. Peter may be the chair, but Eric and Jack will set the tone on the commission and that is a very good thing.

Good job getting all those women to the polls to vote for Linda.

And every vote counts today.

Sure Jack is the obvious choice and we and everyone in our neighborhood will be voting for him. He did a meet and greet here and was great.

Jack will win 2:1 over Linda.

More important, how are you, what are you doing and where is Jasper, GA? We were in the same office for a few months way back when.

I'm fine and living in the mountains. It would help if I had a little more of a clue than we were in the same office. Maybe you're MC? That you're a Jack Fan is certainly enough...
