Less of Dunn better for Fayette? We’ll see . . .

The July 18 vote in Fayette County has turned aside Greg Dunn, a principled county chairman.

The winner in this race claimed that Chairman Dunn was wasteful, controversial and untrustworthy and therefore asked for a vote more against Dunn than for him. That is simply politics.

The underlying message was that we’d get more good and less bad by making a change. Fractionally, and in my opinion unfortunately, the vote agreed.

To say that we have been getting much good from Greg Dunn at both the county and Atlanta regional level is an understatement.

We have lost a chairman willing and able to effectively look after Fayette’s best interests within the Atlanta Regional Commission.

We have also lost a man willing to both stand on principle and most importantly help maintain the toughest county land use plan in metro Atlanta.

I thank Greg Dunn for all of his hard work and hope that the change that we actually get is more a change in style and rhetoric with his replacement Eric Maxwell than underlying principles.

B. Ray Helton is the same pro-choice guy that's also in favor of rapid transit in Fayette County. Mr. Helton specializes in rhetoric and is probably the most liberal man in Fayette County, except when it comes to the land use plan (then he's looking out for number one).

about Maxwell. I wish him well, but he came out in favor of the DelWeb and that told me enough right there.

I knew how Dunn voted, I hope Maxwell does as good.

Donna, please give it up. We all know who you are and just because a developer won't list their property through a local realty group does not mean that their proposal was a bad idea.

In fact, the Del Webb community would have helped the county in a big way. Dunn and clone Wells voting it down - or actually refusing to listen was a huge mistake. Jack, Sam, whoever would at least listen.

Delweb may have been good for PTC, but I don't think it would work in unincorporated Fayette County. You really have no idea who I am. I most assuredly do not work for a major developer/real estate company.

Also I realize this about a week old and it's a dead horse. Maxwell won, and I have wished him well.

Could you go to the Fayette Future - Retirement? blog and chip in some comments there?

Some issues on retirees I would like to hear your thoughts on.

His principle was to try to take direct control of everything, at the cost of hundreds of thousands of wasted dollars.

Now, time to get rid of his partner in crime. Wells.

PTC Guy probably would have criticized Mother Theresa for being too pro-active.

Greg Dunn was a man of honor. There never, ever was the slightest suggestion that he would profit in any fashion from his public service. He was simply passionate about his community. He will be missed.

I hope that you enjoy your hastening of the return to the days of Sprayberry and Burrell. Maxwell will be the incarnate. Westmoreland will be your icon.

You made no sense when you lived here and looks like that has not changed. Get off your soapbox carefully and go to bed. No one cares what you have to say.

Actually, I liked Burrell.

replacement is infinitely more and better qualified to represent the citizens of Fayette County than Dunn ever dreamed of. Greg Dunn's ego and hunger for power got the better of him and did him in. Side kick Wells will go on August 8th and you, Craft, can go back to Florida. Take Bost with you, politics in Fayette County are better off without both of you.

Look up the definition. He does not fit it.

Unless I am sadly mistaken, you don't live in Fayette, so your opinion does mean much, does it?
