Another daylight robbery in F’villeTue, 07/25/2006 - 3:50pm
By: John Munford
First, he ordered a sandwich. But instead of pulling out his wallet to pay, the “customer” drew a gun and demanded money from the cash register at the Blimpie store in the Fayette Pavilion Monday afternoon, police said. The gunman got away on foot, and police were further stymied when 25 minutes elapsed between the time the crime occurred and the time it was reported to 911, police said. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect, who had likely been gone for some time. Police urge business owners and residents to report crime as quickly as possible by dialing 911. “That give us our best chance of finding the person still in the area,” said Fayetteville Police Lt. Beverly Trainor. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 45 years old, weighing about 185 pounds and wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts, police said. It is unknown how he left the area, police said. The incident occurred around 4 p.m., police said. It was another broad daylight armed robbery of a store in Fayetteville, the second in three weeks. The Herb Shop in Hudson Plaza was robbed by a gunman July 11, though he got away with little cash, police said. The Blimpie store’s security camera was not working and thus didn’t record the incident, police said. Police were reviewing other nearby security cameras for possible clues to the suspect’s identity. No one was injured during the incident, police said. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Det. Bob Bautista at 770-461-4441. login to post comments |
