Taxed Into Security

Is anyone else puzzled why we need to increase taxes to add more police to the Peachtree City Police Dept? It seems to me if they currently have time to spend working the internet - perhaps we could put the existing patrol after the real criminals like the people driving without seat-belts and not having a proper colored flag on the boards from the pick-up trucks - you get my drift.

Have you been popped for speeding?? I'm trying to figure out why you don't like cops.
Sandy Springs just formed a new city, and started with 85 police officers. Their city is about the same size as far as streets are concerned, however we have an addidtional 100 miles of cart path that have been unpatrolled until recently. I think we only have 58 officers obviously way understaffed for a city this size.
I know Sandy Springs has a larger population, however it is still a smaller area to patrol.
As long as we still have people encountering fireworks, speeding teens, drinking and smoking teens and vandalism on the cart paths, we do not have enough officers.
Our police officers have the fastest response times of any city I have ever lived in. If we don't hire more officers they will not be able to maintain the high level of service as our city grows.

To suggest that police officers who aren't out in the field all the time should be is never going to happen. Efficiency studies (very few of which are now done in the service industries) have shown almost 100% that in any given service industry (even service departments within corporations)only work at about 65-70% efficiency---that is, 80-85% of them "work" but at about an 80% pace of work, netting the 65-70% overall. You are never going to get much of the "brass" managing by walking around (MBWA), which of couse involves them in day to day basic cop work, assisting with arrests, etc., because their heirarchy isn't built that way---and there are too many computers to sit at and punch. Anyway, we don't have much else to do these days since we don't manufacture anything--only serve one another. I think about 40% now really "work" in Europe. Try clearing out the police station three days a week, except for a receptionist, and see what they do!

You know it is hard to read your blogs because you have no idea what is going on in the world except you narrow minded dislike for law enforcement. I bet your mama dropped you on your head as a child and you have been finding reasons to blame everyone in society for your misconception of how police protect citizens. As a citizen of this community I ask that you give us your real name and address so some law enforcement officer that reads your stupid blogs can tell us all about who you are and why to seem to destroy everything around you.

O yea I know " the world is wrong and you are right ". Go get back under that rock you live under.

I'm sorry, but this is probably the most ridiculous post that I've read to date on the PD, and there have been some doozies. If you want to complain, do it when you have a legitimate gripe. To infer that pedophiles are not real criminals is beyond my comprehension. Your comment about the seat belt might be in line tho. Far be it from me to say you should wear your seatbelt when it will make you about 71% less likely to die in a car wreck...guess the law and those who enforce it are just a little crazy enough to care if you get hurt...apparently you are not.

Welcome to the famous Fayette Blogs. You asked why add new officers instead of surfing the internet so they could go after real criminals. Well, the child molesters are REAL criminals. The ones PTC police have caught are off the street. They were trolling for kids for illicit reasons and now they are gone. There are still too many out there. I have young children, and every time one of these scum balls is caught, I am pleased.

If you don't think these are real criminals, then a) you don't have kids, b) your kids are out of control or c) you did not think this through. If (c), then no problem. If (a) or (b), then move to some place that welcomes this perverted activity, because we don't like it here.

Wake Up and get a clue.

I almost responded but thought I would see if someone else would jump on the "Real Criminal" thing. I thought for a moment ole Waterboy might have been the youth minister or his wife with that comment. Didn't want to say it but...you know....sometimes I have a hard time keeping my big mouth shut. But, we do what we are best at I guess. Hey...Thanks PTC Law Guys for busting those sexual predators. Now off with their nuggets.

I say let's support our local sheriff and all the other guys and gals that work to protect us and our families.
