Hey, Blue Cross, people choose doctors first

It’s time that Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Georgia realize that when the choice is available, people choose the insurance company that includes the doctors and hospitals of their choice. They do not choose the insurance company and then choose a doctor or hospital.

Unfortunately some people have no choice of companies because their employer has chosen only one insurance carrier.

Many employees are voicing opinions to their employers to consider other insurance companies when possible because of BCBSGA putting the health of thousands in jeopardy by dropping Piedmont Healthcare from their network.

Some companies have already changed from BCBSGA in order for their employees to have control of their choices in health care.

Premiums have increased. Deductibles have increased. The contract with Piedmont Healthcare was the same for three years. Where has the additional money gone? Perhaps executive bonuses?

If you are a Piedmont Healthcare patient, voice your opinion. Write letters. Make phone calls. Encourage your employer to change plans when possible.

It is time to put a stop to 20-30% health care costs rising nearly every year. The very most they should rise is the cost of inflation, at least for a few years. Hospitals have fudged bills to insurance companies too many years now. Investigate the hospital costs and charges and efficiency for a change. If you don't, we will have national insurance soon.

You really need to get a clue highgreen109. You are the one who needs to do the investigating.

I would be glad to check a few bills to insurance companies and do a little work to loaf ratio.

I am defending highgreen.

Hospitals do inflate and do false charges on their billings to insurance companies.

The bills are the minor part--yes, they are false, actually a science, anymore--the real problem is the other overhead, the empire building and overpayment to some and underpayment to the majority. Also, one can get open heart surgery every ten miles in this country--not necessary. Every hole in the wall clinic has a million dollars worth of unneeded equipment, do triage and send them on. No end to cost cutting without any quality change. Might even improve. Let's create jobs doing something useful.

It is just hard to see why not very many want to mess with hospitals. I know 1000 or more work there, plus hundreds of doctors, but good gracious, sometime the growing costs must slow down! All overcosted things eventually come to an end, they must. Do they want national health care?

Pace yourself.
