Taco Mac rocks!

As a long time fan of both $3 Cafe and Taco Mac when I lived previously in the Sandy springs/Buckhead area, I was very disappointed to hear all the recent negative comments about PTC's new $3 Cafe location. My wife and I decided to try the new Taco Mac in PTC last week. I'm happy to say the service and food there is absolutely wonderful. The manager, Lance, came out to check in with us, and our server, Chris, was the most attentive server we've experienced in quite some time. We'll certainly be back there really soon! Highly recommended!

Hey, it wasn't bad.
The food came quickly, the waitress was effecient and nice, and I found nothing wrong with the chips + sauce as appetizer and the taco salad as main course. The bill at the end of the meal was also not exorbitant.

Ok, I didn't exactly eat four different items, and I don't want to submit some chauvinistic remark about the waitress but I will probably try it again.

I was also expecting some kind of Mexican or TexMex fare from the name and that was pretty much what I got. The sports bar part was not expected but I ate outside and had no problems.

We ate at Taco Mac for the first time this weekend (at this location) and compared to the rest of the places in Peachtree City I must say that Taco Mac is not bad. They might as well go ahead and shut down 3 Dollar. Service there is crap and the drinks are disgusting as well. We were there for quite some time but only saw our waitress (Sinead or something like that) one time. The kids that work there would rather socialize than work (but we often run into that in this town). Then, to make the whole experience worse, I see my bank account has been charged twice (and the totals were wrong). I am assuming had she been paying a bit of attention to her job rather than her next "hook-up" she would have noticed. Anyways, point being, Taco Mac is not that bad. Oh, by the way, yes it is a sports bar but a family sports bar so if it is peace and quiet you are hoping for try Y Knots.

I had the ill fortune of eating at Taco Mac last week. The restaurant was clean and the servers were friendly and efficient. But the food was horrible!! Four different meals at our table and all terrible. No sense sending four meals back – just do not GO back.

As a side note, why would a Taco Mac have a Reuben sandwich on their menu? That should have been the first indication.

Good service in my opinion, good food too. Their BEER choices are 2nd to none...

The name "Taco Mac" has been a long running story in the Atlanta area, it came about because that was on the building they originally rented in the Highlands area of Atlanta, not because the serve Tacos. They either spent the money on a new sign, or in the kithcen at the original location, they chose the kitchen, and the rest is history.

Sorry folks, didn't realize I lived here in a Communist state that you apparently rule. I recently relocated here as I stated, and I was a patron of Taco Mac, not an employee. In fact, I went there again last night with my wife and again had excellent food and service. This time, Ashley, was our server, and Joel behind the bar was excellent as well. The reason I know these folks' names is that they all introduce themselves and appear to genuinely enjoy working there. You folks who spew venom need to grow up and get a life.

As for where Taco Mac is located, it's next to Pike's Nursery (where On the Border used to be) near the intersection of 74 and 54. I'm telling you, it's better than any place around when it comes to food quality and service.

Cowtipn and Git posted some very obvious problems with your post. While I also ate there and also found it a positive experience, I also had the same feeling they expressed - your post sounded a bit like an advertisers copy. Couple that with your registration just before posting and your freindly reaction makes me wonder if you really aren't associated with the store.

Either way, I liked it and I said as much. Unruffle your feathers a bit and chill.
You want real insults you need to attack the Major, too.

Hello there, hired guns. My former boss G. Moore used to say "Only the paranoid survive" and I just read that you "don't discuss with an idiot, he will bring you to his level and will defeat you by experience".

Back to my drink...

You are a freaking phony. You signed up a few minutes ago just to tell us that. Your about as big of a phony as the pretend cop Cookie Buster. We're glad your pumped up about working at Taco Mac but please spare us your fake posts. We get enough of them here as it is. Taco Mac will get it's recognition on this site from the regulars. Now go back and wipe some tables down. Remember....clean tables, lots of napkins and don't let my sweet tea fall below 25% and make sure it has ice in it when you refill it. For my other friends here don't let that bottle get near empty.

Why do you have to be such an A*****? Can you not stand it that someone posted something positive?
Taco Mac is doing a great job!! You have probably not even been there or I am sure we would have heard some type of comment from you. Maybe you should not speak about what you do not know. Oh, by the way, do you do anything but sit online and watch the "Citizen" ?

and the only thing I have to do is lay in this bed and type out my blogs with the pencil I hold between my teeth. As I lay here concerned about the events that take place in our community I just find it odd that the only thing you and the other dude find worthwhile to sign up on the Citizen for is to comment about a freaking restaurant opening. That would appear to be an "oh by the way subject" rather that the main event in YOUR LIFE unless you just some publicity hound looking for a free plug for a restaurant.

Furthermore if I didn't spend all my time sitting online watching the Citizen then I would not be earning the money Cal pays me to keep characters like you in check. Eye-wink

i think its funny that folks such as git real think there is some sort of subversive campaign on this board to trick folks. I'm sure it is highly likely that one will go on these boards and say, "hmmm, this random person on the internet thinks this...so i guess i better try it/vote for him/her." this is not the optimal venue for advertising, maybe its just someone posting an honest opinion

just cause someone has an opinion, even one that is different from yours, doesnt mean they are some sort of liar or trickster. neither does the fact that they just signed up to be a member.

suspicion is healthy, paranoia is crazy

This is just another frivolous topic being discussed here, like the one referring to nails, fungal infections and such at those salons attended by having-nothing-better-to-do PTC old farts.

yet another worthless place to eat in PTC. Although, the service was not as horrible as 3 dollar cafe, the food was aweful.

I have good food and service at the Taco Mac in Newnan, and I will just continue to go there. In Newnan, people have the courtesy to leave their snotty little kids at home when they go to a "sports bar" so people like me don't have to deal with them while I eat.

While you could have a restraunt filled with perfect kids, but if one set of parents thinks it's ok for the kids to roam around, be noisy or spit mashed potatoes (sp? Smiling down the back of other guests neck, they're all that way.

Parents: For those of you who do not feel it's necessary to discipline your kids, please contact The Major. I'm certain he will be able to explain it to you.
For those of you too stressed out or just plain incapable of being a parent, please call Dr. Laura, Focus On The Family, or similar professional but PLEASE don't bring them to the restaurant!
For those of you whos children sit quietly, talk only quietly and don't interrupt you, congratulations! We all appreciate it!!!

ExExPatriot, I agree 100%. Back in the day that the hostess would ask smoking or non, I would always reply, that doesn't matter, just no kids. When I go to a restaurant where you seat yourself, I always look for the no kids area. I'm not an old fogy, I adore children, I've worked with children for years. However, my child did not act like that in public, and I don't expect to have to sit next to people who have misbehaving children. It seems odd to me that a restaurant manager would ask you to stop smoking, or suggest one has had too much to drink, but will not or cannot do a thing about a child running amuck.

Seems just the idea that you don't appreciate all the cute little kid things they do could lable you as antisocial.

Besides, smoking and kids should rule each other out so the only chioces are kids or smoking.

Time to eat at home more often, huh?

Submitted by Eliza on Mon, 08/14/2006 - 2:51pm.

My children didn't act like that, either. If one did get "out of sorts", he was taken outside and straightened out. But it rarely happened, because they knew from the get-go that bad manners would not be tolerated.

It is somewhat different with infants, of course. In my opinion, the parents should take a crying baby outside until he is soothed and quietened. Then and only then, brought back inside. What is it with these people who will sit there with a baby screaming its lungs out, while they continue to eat as if nothing is amiss? I can't help wondering if these poor babies cry all the time at home, and the parents are just used to it.

I believe part of the reason the restaurant managers don't do anything is because they are afraid of the wrath of the parents. People have to be pretty obnoxious to just continue eating when their children are misbehaving - and they probably cause a scene and have a hissyfit if someone dares to suggest they should take their little darling out of the restaurant for the sake of other diners.

I bet not. Good points, Eliza.

Somehow, as I was formulating the original post, I was pretty certain none of the offending parents would post. Too stressed out, too busy.

Too bad. I say next time we have kids on such behavoir, go straight to the manager and complain. And feel free to confront the parents directly, offering help and suggestion without critization but still making it clear what you expect from them and their little future presidents, lawyers, doctors, etc.

Why parents take youngun's into bars in the first place is beyond me. Since when do offspring and alcohol mix?

Anyway, Taco Mac in Peachtree City just proves that the area has been long in want of good beer, and why no one else would bring it here is inexplicable. It's really worth it to not have to drive an hour to experiment with imports not served anywhere else. And the liquor and grocery stores are smartly carrying some of the same stock now so you can have it at home once you've learned about it. Where Taco Mac lacks in food, it makes up in a staff that is as knowledgeable about the beer as any sommelier about their wine. You won't get that anyplace else in the city where no peachtree grows!
