Drug Agent's Wife Speaks w/Greg Dunn:

October, 2005: Capt. Mike Pruitt made an online purchase for work clothing.
December, 2005: Pruitt submitted the invoice to the county for reimbursement as part of his clothing allowance.
January, 2006: Pruitt’s invoice was declined by the county since it displayed Capt. Pruitt’s wife’s name and not his. Pruitt didn’t resubmit the invoice and never received any reimbursement for the clothing purchase. END OF STORY.
June 1, 2006: Kevin Duffy publishes an article in the AJC about the “INVOICE” using Capt. Pruitt’s wife’s FIRST AND LAST names, with quotes from Commissioner Greg Dunn.

Mid June, 2006: I, Mrs. Mike Pruitt, decided to question Commissioner Dunn about the article in the AJC. I told him he had put my family in danger by allowing my name to be printed in the paper. His response was, “It should pose no threat because your husband’s name is in the paper all the time”. I had to actually convince him that his actions DID INDEED pose a threat for my family. All our personal information is listed under MY name instead of Mike’s, due to the type of work he does. By linking the two names together, information, such as our address, is easily accessible.
THEN, Greg Dunn assured me he had nothing to do with my name appearing in the AJC and during his interview with Kevin, he had “no idea of whom Kevin was writing the article about”. Greg stated, "IF I had known, I would have advised Kevin Duffy to not print your name, and if he(Kevin) says otherwise, he(Kevin) is lying. Greg also told me he was well aware of how “dangerous” situations can be and would “NEVER put anyone’s life at risk”.
During my phone conversation with Greg Dunn, he admitted, “The average person wouldn’t have been able to find the INVOICE unless they knew exactly what they were looking for”, but assured me he wasn’t the person who “leaked” the information to Kevin Duffy. I asked Greg to please find out who leaked the information to prevent this from happening again, but he said he wasn’t going to, “go around and ask his fellow commissioners, because no one would admit it anyway”. Our conversation ended with me wondering why Kevin Duffy felt the need to publish MY name.

Same Day/Mid June: I spoke with Kevin Duffy… When I introduced myself, he was already familiar with who I was. When I told him he had put my family’s life in danger, he responded with, “Well, have you been threatened?” So, I had to explain my situation again. I asked Kevin if he uses exact quotes in his articles, or if he paraphrases his interviews. Kevin stated he tries to use exact quotes when possible and put me on hold to gather notes from his interview with Greg Dunn.
What Kevin Duffy stated next shocked me. Kevin told me Greg Dunn knew exactly who the article was being written about, and was quoted as saying, “We’re not in the habit of purchasing spouses’ clothing”. (Dunn referring to Pruitt’s Invoice) I told Kevin that Greg denied knowing who the subject of the article was, and about Greg’s statement, “Kevin is lying if Kevin says otherwise”. Kevin said he was not lying and advised that at no point was he asked to retract my name or my husband’s name from the article. He apologized profusely for having published it.

I still don’t understand why this Invoice was so important that it was worthy of publication in the largest newspaper in the state. Maybe, Greg Dunn was attempting to discredit my husband? I know Janet Dunn wrote a Blog on July 1, 2006, to address a “rumor” going around about her husband “leaking” information. Greg Dunn may not have been responsible for the actual “leak”, but I hold him solely responsible for what transpired after that. I openly question Greg Dunn’s character, integrity, and honesty. My husband and I feel violated and vulnerable, and every citizen reading this should be aware that this could happen to you!

Today, I have been watching television coverage of Dekalb County Officer Dennis Stepnowski’s Funeral. Officer Stepnowski was killed on June 29, 2006, in the line of duty, while assisting Narcotics officers. On that Thursday morning, my husband awoke and went to work the same as officer Stepnowski. They kissed their wives good-bye, and went to work to protect the public. The only difference between the two men is, my husband came home, and Mrs. Stepnowski became a widow… I feel very sad for that family.
The last thing my husband, or any other Fayette County Deputy, should have to deal with is the constant distractions initiated by Commission Chairman Greg Dunn.
If Greg Dunn really cares about our officers as much as his wife says he does, how do you explain his actions?

Mrs. Mike Pruitt

How many times have I stated that Gregs worst enemy in this race is his Janets refusal to keep her yap shut. She just can't stand it. Several times I have advised Greg to muzzle his bride. If you notice the repeated patterns here regarding the controversies that surround Greg the same scenarios keep occuring.

Here's how it goes. Greg takes an butt whopping in the papers and here. Janet jumps in and the whopping escalates. She shuts up and everything quites down. Janet sits back just dying to open her mouth until it just about kills her. Then she can't resist anymore and being the experienced journalist and crack shot campaign expert she thinks she is her suppossedly brilliant rebutal comes out to once again expose her husband to a flurry of justified public lashings in the press. Janet.....You ain't running against Scott Burrell again and Greg has too much history to deal with and you are now WAY over your head. Do your husband a favor and just SHUT UP. Second thought keep it up and this race will become a race exclusively between Maxwell & Donald Duck.

I certainly understand Mrs. Pruitt's anxiety over the leaking of HER name to the AJC, too. I have been a law enforcement officer for 30 years. I worked for a metropolitan county adjacent to Fayette for all those years as a patrol officer and detective. In those years, I investigated and arrested burglars, armed robbers, child molesters, rapists, dopers, and murderers. That was just to let you know that I'm no "johnny-come-lately".

During those 30 years, my name and address was, and still is, listed in the phone book. My wife and family lived, and still do, in the same house we bought in 1977. Only one of the low-life, scum-sucking, bottom crawlers I ever arrested threatened to come to my home. That individual was assured of the consequences if that ever occurred. That was 25 years ago and guess what...no problems.

The times have changed, of course. Some criminals have become more violent and maybe slightly more intelligent. That, I do not dispute. However, if even one of the low-life, scum-sucking, bottom crawling, doper maggotts ever sniffed around Captain Pruitt's house, I'm sure that would be the last time. Body bags are made for that type of individual.

Regarding whether or not Dunn or Duffey "leaked" the information about Mrs. Pruitt or Captain Pruitt, I have no clue (though, I do have suspicions). I have only met Dunn once, Captain Pruitt never too my knowledge (although, we may have run into each other professionally over the years). Also, I have been to more police officer funerals than I care to remember (some of whom were friends of mine). Those funerals were never the result of someone's name being released to the press, intentionally or not.

The law enforcement profession is a dangerous one and always will be. Dangerous to not only to the law enforcement officer but to his family as well. That is the price we pay, unfortunately. If you have any doubt, ask the widows and children of the cops killed in the line of duty.

The one thing that really disturbs me, though, about all this "blogging" regarding Dunn, Duffey, Pruitt, et al, is that Mrs. Pruitt, Dunn's competition, and those people who have no clue of what it is to be a "cop", keep yapping about it. Many of the low-life, scum-sucking, bottom-crawling maggotts whom Captain Pruitt has arrested over the years don't read the paper, whether it be the AJC or the Fayette Citizen (if they can read at all). But one thing is for sure, you keep posting and eventually one with the I.Q. of over 10 will pick up on it and search you out. Do I care if Dunn gets re-elected or not...no, not really (only met the guy once and seemed nice enough). Do I care if Captain Pruitt and his family are safe? You're damned right I do care (again, never met him that I know of). Should this be a political issue for Dunn or Maxwell or any other candidate? NO! It puts Captain Pruitt and his family in even more danger from the LOW-LIFE, SCUM-SUCKING, BOTTOM DWELLING MAGGOTTS that inhabit not only Fayette County, but the surrounding counties as well.

Faytte Countians, research your candidates. Talk with them. Form your own opinions and don't base them on the opinions of those who only have knee-jerk reactions to a particular incident or two. YOU decide who you will vote for in the upcoming election. People have actually died so that you could have that right. And, I still put my life on the line everyday so that you can exercise that right. Use it wisely and intelligently.

Cookie Duster, I may not be the smartest cookie in the pan, but I am smarter than you. If you have been in law enforcement for 30 years, even in a surrounding county, there is no way you could NOT know Mike Pruitt.

I thank you for the job you do and trust your motives and sincerity in what you have said. But it is shameless to think that it would be no big deal for the Captain to just take out some piece of s&%t in front of his family in his front yard. Yeah...just stuff him in a body bag. That sounds great and that's the result we would all love to see. However, if Captain Pruitt is on an assignment or running an errand and his lovely bride remains home with the kids how in the heck is he going to be able to protect his family. What the hell kind of life is that? Even if he's home it would be a simple task to hide in the bushes and shoot him in the back (sound familiar?). Anyone of us could get caught off guard like that. I'm not sure your really a law enforcement officer at all or if by chance you really are then you must have some kind of a Dirty Harry mentality and your bullet proof. I sir give the scum-sucking, bottom dwelling maggots more credit than you do.

Captain and Mrs. Pruitt. Be safe and know most of us wish there was something we could do for you and your family. I am not in law enforcement and I don't know how you guys operate, but I am assuming and hoping that you are being looked after by the rest of your brothers and sisters in your field.

CookieDuster? Where did you get that one? Unless you're trying to come across as a house wife like Officer Pruitt's wife.
To begin with, you are not a detective in a surrounding county who has served 30 years. All of the surrounding counties have a retirement which would have allowed you to be sitting in a rocking chair by now. If you're still working, you're here or you're not real. Clever tactics such as the misuse of the word to (too)... well the deception leaves me unsettled about your integrity. It makes me believe you are once again Janet. I don't believe a fellow officer would post this message.

CookieDuster, What brings you to our little world? I can see that you just recently joined the blog community.

If you have the time please indulge us. What would be the reaction in your county if this had happened to one of your associates?

You make a good point that this is just one issue of many that need to be thought thru, but wouldn’t your county blow a gasket if this happened where you live/work?

This is one of the more important issues of this election in my book. So I'll ask for help from the Citizen. Would it be possible for a citizen reporter to interview Kevin Duffy and see if he'll tell us how he came about this information. Will he clear Mr Dunn ? Without this (or something equal) I don't think I can vote for Mr Dunn again !

Kevin Duffy is a joke. I would believe about 1% of what he writes. His job is to sell papers and he could care less if the truth is only 1% of what he writes. I am no fan of Dunn but if I have to choose between the two, Dunn by a mile. If you are trying to write a local story for a big time paper late in your career, YOU ARE A FAILURE.

I think he needs to write death notices as that would be a job he could at least be truthful with the facts that the person was dead.

Kevin Duffy may be a joke, but he is always on call when Dunn wants to get his name in the paper. I thought those two were "partners in crime"... It will be interesting to see how this plays out!

The "big" picture here is Dunn using an OLD invoice to try to discredit the Sheriff's Dept. Remember the "Forensic" audit Dunn conducted on the Sheriff? If that invoice was the only "dirt" he could come up with, his career is truly doomed!

Janet's blog holds her husband in such "high regard", I wonder if she will dare to respond to Mrs. Pruitt's blog. Either Janet doesn't know her husband very well, or she refuses to see him for who he really is! And Greg's "code of honor"??? Really? How honorable is lying?

Yes, I'm sure Kevin Duffy went thru the proper channels citing the Freedom of Information Act, HOWEVER, as Mrs. Pruitt said, SOMEONE had to tip him off with what to look for!

We all know, that Greg knows, who "leaked" the info to Kevin Duffy... Let me see here... Was it um, LINDA????

Greg, why haven't you gotten to the bottom of this yet? You know this has become a REAL CAMPAIGN ISSUE and will NOT go away... What do you have to say???

The greatest stress in the lives of law enforcement officers comes either from within the department itself, or from local politicians and bigshots, or in some cases both. Officers spend every day looking over their shoulder to see if they are going to be stabbed in the back by their superiors or called on the carpet for citing or arresting someone "important" in the community. I am speaking as the wife of an officer. If you have not been there, you have no idea the degree of abuse sometimes suffered from within the department or the local political system. It is very disheartening to those who are sincerely trying to serve the citizens.

I wish I could be a fly on the wall when Janet & Gregg read this-
With all I have read about Dunn wanting the Sheriff to be held accountable- Dunn should be held accountable for his actions.
Can a commissioner be FIRED?

uh oh!
