Thanks to those who rescued baby ducks

Saturday, June 17, I was turning onto Westpark Drive from the southbound lane of Ga. Highway 74 (in front of Pike’s Nursery) in Peachtree City when I saw five mallard ducklings clustered together heading back toward their dead mother and sibling.

With me in pursuit on foot, they managed to turn around, climb the median and cross the northbound traffic.

One family pulled their car to the edge of the road and the ducks immediately took refuge under their car. Another couple pulled over in front of them and a Peachtree City policeman stopped to direct traffic around the rescue efforts.

Soon everyone was holding a baby and a donated plastic file box contained them. I took them to the Southern Crescent Animal Emergency Clinic, where they promised to care for them and transport them to Noah’s Ark in Locust Grove in Henry County {www.noahs-ark.org).

To the person who hit the mother and baby: I can try to understand if, without having a wreck, you couldn’t avoid hitting the mother. But to not stop to rescue the babies was and is unconscionable.

To those who stopped to help, thank you so much. It’s nice to know there are still compassionate people in this world.

Yep. The clinics are great in general for helping animals.

I have hauled hurt and in the wrong place turtles to such for treatment and relocation.

I get real mad when people deliberately hit animals. And an troubled so many locations are death traps to turtles.

Wish there were better answers.

Would someone come & get the geese from the lake. I think they should be in like Minn. now. Everyone needs to quit feeding these wild animals and make them do what they are suppose to be do'n. Fly'n North & then fly'n South.
