It has been said that Tyrone’s growth is going to happen whether we want it or not. The key will be to slow it down to where it can be properly managed.

With that in mind, Tyrone has a well developed land use plan that needs to be enforced. Strict adherence to this plan will help in managing that growth, and ensure that what is being done will be in the best interests of the Town and its residents.

Commercial developments in Tyrone are necessary, and can be a good thing, but only if they follow the land use plan, which calls for commercial development in predefined commercial zones, keeping this development separate from the residential sections of town. The idea of every street corner being rezoned for various business endeavors does not appeal to me.

As a member of the Tyrone Planning Commission, I worked hard to prevent what came to be called “commercial creep” into residential areas. As a member of the Town Council, I will continue to work to protect the quiet, rural atmosphere of our residential sections of town. Please support me with your vote on November 8, and I will work to keep Tyrone a community we can be proud of.

Thank you.

There has been a lot of discussion regarding relcoation of facilities. What will the impact be on Swanson and Handley parks? We will lose some recreation facilities and gain others? We have some that are little league and some that are softball. Will we have the same impact and perhaps a better result ?
