1 busted for growing pot

A Fayette County man was arrested Monday for growing suspected marijuana on the rear deck of his home. The suspected marijuana has a new leaf arrangement recently identified in cultivation.

Johnny Brown, 57, of a central Fayette County address, was charged with felony manufacture and cultivation of marijuana, according to Fayette County Sheriff’s Drug Suppression Task Force Commander Mike Pruitt.

Task force agents Monday afternoon arrested Brown at his residence after locating four plants growing in pots in the deck, Pruitt said. Two of the plants were approximately five feet in height while the two remaining plants were smaller in size, Pruitt said.

A feature of the plants was that some of the leaves differ from traditional marijuana. The plants normally have five-leaf clusters but over the years marijuana has naturally mutated so that some plants have one, three or five leaves, Pruitt said. The potency of the plant has not changed regardless the number of leaves, he said.

Clarification: A Fayette County man arrested Monday for cultivating and manufacturing marijuana, 57 year-old Johnny Brown, was listed as residing at a central Fayette address. The address where Brown resides is 115 Kari Glen Way. We apologize for any confusion that resulted over not including the specific address.

Real nice plant. I'm greatfull that the police didn't snoop around like that when I was living in Fayetteville. We had plants growing everywhere when we were kids. Sounds like Fayetteville has come up in the world!! good job!!

That is one of the nicest looking plants I've ever seen. Thanks for the visual Citizen!

We've have thefts etc going on in the County, and we are busting people for growing plants the Good Lord put here. This type of stuff infuriates me.

If I remember correctly, the Good Lord also put a "TREE" in the garden and told Adam & Eve not to touch.
(Probably a good example of the first laws)

Tell me, how'd that turn out for them???

Change the law if you want, but as of today - it is not legal and the police will enforce the laws. Don't be infuriated - go change the laws. By the way, why are you not at the Rotary forum tonight? That's where you influence laws and their enforcement.

How did they find the plants growing on the deck. I'm assuming the deck was in the back yard. Did they just wander in and check? If they are doing that, they can water my tomatoes while I'm out of town. Smiling

"McDawg", I guess you didn't get what the article was about? It wasn't about how much or how little pot was found... it was about how the appearance has changed over the years. That's information, I for one, wasn't aware of.
Don't take it out on the Narcotics officers, they're doing what they are trained to do and they are doing it well!
If you're not happy with our county, you can just tuck your tail & go back to Henry...

It's been a while since I've seen it, and I don't think I have ever seen a live plant. Smiling

My main concern is addressed above.

The problem is those who have it aren’t sharing.
