Three juveniles were arrested after they assaulted a woman in the parking lot of a Fayetteville grocery store early Sunday morning, police said.

The victim was getting out of her car at the Banks Crossing Kroger when the suspects pushed her and demanded her purse and keys, police said. As the victim got her belongings, one of the suspects struck her in the head with a large rock, police said.

The suspects ran away with the victim’s purse and keys but they were arrested before they could leave the area, police said. The victim’s keys were found in one of the suspect’s pockets and the victim’s purse was found near where another one of the suspects was hiding, police said.

The victim, a store employee, suffered a large cut to her forehead and was taken to Piedmont Fayette Hospital for treatment, police said.

The juveniles, a 15-year-old from Riverdale, a 13-year-old from Lovejoy and a 16-year-old from Lovejoy were charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and battery, police said. The latter two were also charged with obstruction of a police officer, police said.

All three suspects were taken to the Clayton County Regional Youth Detention Center, police said.

Police Chief Steve Heaton lauded the efforts of officers who responded to the scene for finding and arresting the suspects quickly. Those involved included officers Mike Francis, Todd Chitwood, J.D. Lakeman and Mark Thayer along with lieutenants Patty Kent and Derek Brown.

The Pavilion, that's what. It's drawn crime down to Fayette County like flies to honey.

Ever walked in Wal-Mart recently? (I know, me either). It's like a fort. Everything of value is locked up, and they still have theft like crazy.

Don't know if they still keep the crime statistics there low-key, but they use to.

Check out the license plates in the lot... Fulton, Clayton on most.

Really bad... that's why I never go there anymore. It's much nicer at the PTC shopping and so are the people who actually help you.

To publish names of arresting officers, unless the Chief is waving his flag, that`s what they get paid to do. Most experienced Officers no not want their name thrown out there for everone to see.

Chief Heaton should be commended for giving credit where credit is due. Sorry Good Guy, but Fayetteville P.D. has the right to wave a flag every now and then. Additionally, there is nothing wrong with recognizing Fayetteville's finest for their excellent work. I know a number of police and firemen and I'm sure they appreciate good comments about their service to the community. People don't have a problem throwing their names around when it's something negative. Chief Heaton, your doing a great job, keep it up. The majority of the public stands behind you and appreciates your officer's commitment to your profession and the City of Fayetteville. If its what they get paid to do, than pay them more.

Yep. Used to be a nice county back in the day.

Wonder what happened to it? (Sarcasm)
