Agreed: Eric Maxwell is Transparent

I would tend to agree that Mr. Maxwell is transparent. It is correct to say "What you see is what you get." Unfortunately, his openess on some of these topics makes clear to me that he will benefit his long time friends in accomodating developers requests that we abandon our standards. When the issue of his "I'll Sue" license plate came up, the excuse was that Eric jokes about it. He sues for people in car wrecks. How can he criticize the Commission suing the Sheriff? He probably jokes about the many campaign contributions that he has supposedly spread around. This all adds up to me as someone who does what is personally convenient and expedient. It sounds like someone who will be very accomodating to developers.

Picture this!

Two cars on the road. One in front of the other. Same direction. The one up front has a tag which says, “I’ll sue.” The guy on the back honks his horn, loud! The fellow up front gives him the finger. Then the guy on the back passes him and pulls in front of him.

And his tag says, “So sue me.”

I find it ironic that the guy (Maxwell) who complains about Dunn suing too much would sport a car tag saying I’ll sue.

Not that I don’t sympathize with him, because there are lots of people, insurance companies and other businesses in this world that treat people with a “so sue me” attitude. These people deserve to be sued.

Just the same, it’s kind of juvenile to have tags that say I’ll sue or So sue me.

What bothers me the most is that to get a tag like that a driver has to pay $25 to get the tag made and then an extra $25 for each year he wants to use it.

How frugal with the public’s money can we expect someone like that to be?

Getting rid of the tag upon becoming a candidate sends an additional message. The desire to cover up a past decision that was at best questionable.

Maxwell should give his “I’ll sue” tag to Dunn, and he should buy the sheriff a “So sue me” tag. That would be perfect!

You got it wrong. Eric asked for "Boy named Sue" on his vanity plate, but they abbreviated it and took away his Johnny Cash connection - which would be a sure vote-getter.

Kidding of course, but since Hamster moved away, I have to do lousy comedy for him as well.

Anyhow, Eric is the man - Greg Dunn needs to go away.

Eric and Sam - winners!

the crap people post in these blogs. stradivargal's blog asks "How can he criticize the Commission suing the Sheriff"? How about suing for damages based on negligence or lack of due care in the case of personal injury, vs the arrogant commissioners suing with no grounds and after having been advised they had no chance of winning?

The reference to developers is pure BS. Eric has told people that he has never even done a real estate closing and doesn't intend to. J D Holmes recently wrote to the editor of this newspaper accusing Maxwell of being in the developers' pocket, but a check of his campaign contribution report indicates absolutely no money received from any developer.

His opponent, Greg Dunn, has indeed received $1,000 from a developer.

Do any bloggers here make any effort to learn or cite the truth when they blog? Appears to me that most do not.

Where is everyone getting the campaign contribution info?

I'm sorry to hear about the Hamster moving away. He was one of the posters I enjoyed reading whenever I came by.

I called the county information office and they told me that you can go to the admin. complex, above the tag office and they will sell it to you for .25 a page.

Maybe Cal can publish it.

Greg Dunn is a man of Honor. He will uphold the land use plan. He always has.

As for the lawsuits, if the lawyers recommended going forward with the suits, he was just following the advice of paid professionals. Mr. Maxwell does the same thing with auto wreck cases. Does it mean he is wrong when he gets a $1,500 verdict after keeping jurors in there for 2 days ?

The future of Fayette is best served by not making a change.

I don't know who you are KraftyFla but you don't know Dunn if you think he's a man of honor. He is deceitful to the public about facts. He consistently hides the truth from the voters and has been obscenely wasteful with taxpayer money.

County Attorneys didn't tell Dunn to file most of those lawsuits but with Linda Wells behind him prodding him on, he insisted. Now the taxpayers are out over $500,000. The county attorneys got about half of that and the Sheriff's attorneys got the other half. Every time the Commission sued the taxpayers had to pay both sides attorney fees. Now the attorneys have become Dunn's fall guys.

Are you someone from Florida? If so why would you care?

I don't know Maxwell, but I know Dunn. There is more to a public official's responsibility than just the land use plan. There is the need to build trust that the people can believe you are telling the truth. Dunn has lost that, and my vote.

I can’t say that I’m a fan of Greg Dunn but at least he provides propaganda on his WEB site that I can research and attempt to make an informed decision.

Eric Maxwell’s WEB site is worthless.

I have emailed the address posted on the Eric’s WEB site under “contact us” requesting additional information such as a listing of speaking engagements that he has planned, his history, his goals and his thoughts on public transportation. I have not received a reply nor has the WEB site been updated.

From what I’ve read about both candidates the only people that speak highly of either has personally known each for years.

What I would hope both candidates realize is that the rest of us county residents haven’t known them for years.

If I remember correctly, tomorrows “The Citizen” will start to publish articles for all candidates. Maybe then I’ll get some answers.

Food for general thought:

I searched the Fayette County Republican Party of Georgia's web site and neither candidate has any information listed. There names are both listed under the “Upcomming Elections” page, but no information about either one of them is provided.

I agree with the assessment about Dunn's arrogance but at least he has been consistant. As a former resident of Clayton, I can speak for the results of change.....my house sold for what I paid for it 3 years later...

My favorite ponytail lawyer's Porsche was "I AQUIT". My favorite all-time is the Ferrari that was "NO WIFE" My 2 cents on Maxwell is he seems to be a fair judge. I haven't made up my mind about the rest of it yet.

Those who sue over everything are every bit as bad as those who see no guilty person, think all punishment is too much and/or don't care if justice is served.

“He probably”, “It sounds like”

Eric Maxwell may or may not be the best candidate for the job. Perhaps you would be a much better candidate. Did you qualify to run? Please tell the address of your WEB site so we can see your credentials.

If you have any evidence to prove your point, please share it with us.

Does he sue on any grounds? Or does he sue when there is an injustice and the guilty party will not settle?

Did Dunn have any legal grounds to sue? Or was it a powerplay that had nothing to do with legal and just?

I get the point of lawyers. But I also get the point of are we comparing apples to apples or apples to oranges.
