PARENTS WAKE UP AND SMEEL THE COFFEE!

Peachtree City….Beautiful…comfortable… but living here I must say I’ve learned it’s like "if you have money, then you fit right in...if you don't then you need to work your butt off to “FIT RIGHT IN” and keep up with the "IN CROWD or THE JONES’S" for that matter. First of all, your kids don’t need every name brand in sight. They have no business getting their own car either (heaven knows they are only driving it while under the influence!) Yes some kids work, but for what? To support their little habits really. And the older “KIDS” they use their age to buy the alcohol for the younger ones too. Ok…Well…I have family members that live here. Of those family members some are "TEENAGERS" Key word: TEENAGERS (or could also be known as “SPOILED BRATS”). I believe that one of those “TEENAGERS’ (that I know) happened to be in that circle of "FRIENDS" who were around on that awful, unforgettable Tuesday. Anyhow, so what should we view this sad act as? Do we call what happened on that night when the kids were “JUST HANGING OUT” as I’m sure most of them told their parents, a TRAGEDY? Should we call it a “LESSON” for them to learn from? A SENSELESS MISTAKE? What? I’m a little confused!! Does it take someone to lose their life, for PARENTS to FINALLY OPEN THEIR EYES? Although I feel tremendous sorrow for the families of all the victims or for anyone who would have to go through something as horrible as this I have to say that it is all the PARENTS FAULT! (PARENTS Of the kids involved/or around that night). I know we shouldn’t be pointing fingers at a time like this BUT WE NEED TO SO THAT IT DOESN’T HAPPEN AGAIN! Are you all REALLY that STUPID? Well YES I believe so. (I know not all parents are like this). Rich or poor some still believe in values and rules and try their hardest to teach their children that. Of course I know there are bad things and temptations all around to lure our children astray. Don’t we all know that? Isn’t that one of the reasons we are supposed to wear the pants in the family? I guess not being that most kids are the ones wearing the pants nowadays! PARENTS Wear your pants tighter!! Don’t let the kids yank them off of you with their sweet talk. PARENTS step up to your plate. You are a PARENT for a reason. Stop letting the “kids” pull the wool over your eyes. Stop believing every single word that comes out of their mouth. Especially the “I don’t drink” or the “I don’t smoke” lines. WAKE UP!!!! How embarrassing that the joke’s on you! Take RESPONSIBILITY for your and your children’s actions NOW! Some parents buy the alcohol for their children and their friends. They think its ok because they are drinking it at their house. I mean… getting “CRUNK” at their house. The famous Lake that your kids go to…Well NEWS FLASH PARENTS…they love to get CRUNK there and from what I hear they also use the “LAKE” to have sex. They also go fishing but for the wrong things. One of these days take a ride down there and see for yourself. Their “MYSPACE” pages? My goodness you can have a field day on their pages. Most of the high and mighty of Peachtree have there teenagers on there flaunting their drinking ways and getting high moments posted on there. Don’t believe me? Even one of our own Superintendent’s daughters has a picture of herself posted kissing a bottle of LIQUOR. There are so many messages posted of our Peachtree City TEENS about constantly getting CRUNK. Pictures and pictures of them showing “HOW FUN” they looked while getting CRUNK. And from what I heard about some Peachtree TEENS going on their “Sr. Trip cruise”…Did anyone happen to check their Luggage? Some were so tricky they went to great lengths to fill their shampoo bottles and other things with liquor. really smart! Some of your kids used their fried up brains to come up with a sneaky idea. So how do PARENTS not know any of this? Do you all just pretend to be blind? Ok Here’s another one….I’ve heard it time and again, “well my kid hangs out with this kid because he comes from such a great family” and “he/she is a good kid. His parents have such a great job”. REALLY? That’s why your Kids lie to you in your face about what they are really up to at night? PARENTS be smarter. Know what your kids are really up to. These kids are the future. What happened to good, clean fun? Most of you PARENTS are bringing up MEAN SPIRITED, SPOILED BRATS. I THINK ALL THE PARENTS OF THOSE TEENAGERS SHOULD FACE UP TO THE LAW, INCLUDING THE TEENAGERS AROUND THAT NIGHT. EVERYONE IS BLAMING EACHOTHER AND ACTING LIKE THEY DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT NIGHT. TYPICAL. PEACHTREE CITY SHOULD COME TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY AND TRY TO KNOCK SOME SENSE INTO ALL THESE KID’S HEADS....SO NOW ALL YOU KIDS WHO TRY AND ACT LIKE BAD-ASSES WHY AREN’T YOU ALL ACTING SO COOL NOW? I WELCOME YOUR COMMENTS ESPECIALLY THE TEENS THAT ARE GOING TO DEFEND THEIR WAYS. IT'S OK CAUSE I KNOW ALMOST ALL THE THINGS I SAID HERE ARE TRUE! SORRY PARENT’S BUT THE AWFUL JOKE’S ON YOU!

I've got my Subway sandwich. Go git you something and let's get after it. Whatcha wanna talk about? Sorry....I can't meet you. It ain't right for grown up people to arrange a meeting over the internet with a kid. The PTC Police may be doing their job. And a great job they do.

Sincerely,

A paragraph break every now and then would make it MUCH easier to read your blog.

SORRY!

First of all, veryveryconcerned, please try to type coherently. It allows other people to actually understand what you are trying to say. Paragraphs are your friend.

"They have no business getting their own car either (heaven knows they are only driving it while under the influence!)"
I know quite a few teens who have purchased their own vehicles using money that they have earned from a job. Who are you to say that they don't have the same rights as other people?

"Yes some kids work, but for what? To support their little habits really."
I have a job, and even though I put most of my money in the bank, I still occasionally purchase CDs, video games, clothes, food, and other necessities. (Oh, by the way, since I'm a teen, those are all code words for drugs.)

"And the older “KIDS” they use their age to buy the alcohol for the younger ones too."
Because we all know that every single person within the 21-25 age group is a lawless rebel who buys minors alcohol.

"Of those family members some are "TEENAGERS" Key word: TEENAGERS (or could also be known as “SPOILED BRATS”)."
Key word: MUSLIM (or could also be known as "terrorist"
Key word: JEW (or could also be known as "accountant"
Key word: ATHEIST (or could also be known as "amoral detriment to our society)

Do you see what I did there?

"Should we call it a “LESSON” for them to learn from?"
Yes. Not every person at that party murdered someone. I highly doubt that you were a perfect teenager and that every single thing you did fell perfectly under the law.

"Does it take someone to lose their life, for PARENTS to FINALLY OPEN THEIR EYES?"
Wow, PTC really sucks. All teenagers are drug addicts and all parents are ignorant.

"Although I feel tremendous sorrow for the families of all the victims or for anyone who would have to go through something as horrible as this I have to say that it is all the PARENTS FAULT!"
So it's Hitler's parents fault that the Holocuast happened?

"Are you all REALLY that STUPID? Well YES I believe so."
I am speechless. You, of all people, are calling the entirety of Peachtree City stupid.

"I guess not being that most kids are the ones wearing the pants nowadays!"
Not true at all.

"Especially the “I don’t drink” or the “I don’t smoke” lines. WAKE UP!!!!"
Again, all teenagers are smoking, drinking, lying, spoiled brats. God forbid that these kids are actually telling the truth when they tell their parents "I don't drink" and "I don't smoke."

"Take RESPONSIBILITY for your and your children’s actions NOW!"
So when a teenager, someone who is perfectly capable of making his own decisions, screws up, it's the parent's job to make up for it?

"REALLY? That’s why your Kids lie to you in your face about what they are really up to at night? PARENTS be smarter. Know what your kids are really up to."
Kids, liars. Parents, stupid. Please try to come up with something new instead of repeating the same thing over and over again.

"Most of you PARENTS are bringing up MEAN SPIRITED, SPOILED BRATS. I THINK ALL THE PARENTS OF THOSE TEENAGERS SHOULD FACE UP TO THE LAW, INCLUDING THE TEENAGERS AROUND THAT NIGHT."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

"EVERYONE IS BLAMING EACHOTHER AND ACTING LIKE THEY DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT NIGHT."
...the people at the party were either DRUNK, HIGH, or a COMBINATION. Do you honestly expect them to have perfectly accurate memories of what went on that night?

I'm not even going to respond to the rest of the article because it would be a waste of my time. It's simply you repeating yourself, except in all capitals because we all know that if something is in capitals, it's true.

Obviously you are not very, very concerned...Like I said WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE...OPEN YOUR EYES WHILE YOU ARE AT IT!

Yes, I'm obviously not very, very concerned like you are. I mean, look at my username. It has nothing to do with me being "very, very concerned." I must not be very, very concerned since I don't agree with every single point that you made.

Submitted by stillnotsenile on Fri, 06/23/2006 - 7:38pm.

Don't worry about it, poetic, veryveryconcerned only seems to be very very concerned with his or her self. Apparently all parents and teenagers are awful and nobody is allowed to make any mistakes. Freedom of speech is apparently overrated unless you are veryveryconcerned.

Do some research on the Uptopian Societies. It gives a pretty good overvue of how such places, thinking and where they end up.

Are there any examples of a utopian society thriving?

I am ignorant on the subject and I am in need of an education.

Submitted by no poetic device on Fri, 06/23/2006 - 7:58pm.

I can't remember the names for the life of me, but during the 1800's, there were quite a few utopian societies established.

They all failed miserably.

Your thinking of such as the Amana Colony and Oneida Community, among hundreds of others.

None were able to sustain themselves.

Longer lasting ones were Shakers, in example. They lasted because the did not have children and attracted disheartened and discontent.

So, they were like a constantly restarting group.

Amish, and similar, are labeled Uptopian by some. But they have really lost entitlement to that name because they have allowed some of the outside world in by allowing more technology in and by allowing workers to use tools, in the outside world, to earn income, that they are not allowed to use within their Communities.

So, literally hundreds have been created, at various times in America and European history. But all have either failed or rejoined the world to sufficient degree to continue.

I agree with you that if a kid screws up, the parents should also be prosecuted.

I think that would probably fix the problems real fast.

Now I just need to buy a farm and start a commune so I don't have to deal with this individualistic culture.

How does one go about succeeding from the union?

in Summerville (?) Tennessee. I suppose you're too young to remember the Caravan and all. They've been around for over 30 years and they even have a website now. It sounds perfect for you.

Yes, I am too young.

I'll check into it...

In the meantime, there seems to be a new planned community known as Serenbe that has an organic farming internship program.

That is awefully tempting as well.

Submitted by Xcheerleader on Thu, 06/22/2006 - 1:36pm.

Serenbe is quite awesome. I went and visited not long ago. I would live there in a heartbeat....except...the houses are much out of my price range. The cheapest one there was about 450,000 for about 1800 sq. feet. I'm sure they have appreciated. I was told by some people there, that they are mostly 2nd homes for executives. Sort of like...weekend retreat homes.

fcteacher: Serenbe started out as a bed and breakfast. The bed and breakfast is still there, but there is also a planned community with 80% green space. It's South Fulton County. It's called the Chatahoochee Hill Country. It is better than anything I've seen on the north side or anywhere for that matter. Very expensive, but really....really awesome concept.

Go to www.serenbe.com and check it out. Better yet, it's something you really have to see. I could not believe something so close to Atlanta was so rural feeling.

is a bed and breakfast in Palmetto (or near there). Southern Living did a spread on them about five years ago. A gift card to Serenbe makes a great wedding gift.

I agree with veryveryconcerned on most of the points made. But I have to say it just isn't the well to do kids that get into trouble, drugs etc. This is a disease that is covering all class and racial lines in our community. Major point of agreement is that it is the parents fault, most are too self absorbed to care. You see that in the community as a whole, a few do, most are very inactive in their childrens lives and the community as a whole.

I think you should just have quit after you said "I'm a little confused". And you should have said that much, much earlier in your incoherant blog.

Submitted by defins on Thu, 06/22/2006 - 8:06am.

Is that what your advocating? I read a bit of jealousy in your comments. So if you can afford to buy your kids a car and buy them nice clothes, this will make them shoot someone? So the poor inner city kids that DON'T have these things are nice law abiding members of society? So if we make everyone poor and miserable the crime rate will come down? While I agree that the shooting was sad and senseless, overreaction won't prevent any further isolated instances. I think I read where this was the first murder here in 10 years. Alot of new cars and clothes were bought in that time.
