Field Guide to Citizen Bloggers For Newcomers

Basmati's picture

A short primer on who's who here:

Basmati is a leader of men, a lover of women, and a heckuva good dancer for a big man. He is first among equals among bloggers, as evidenced by the fact he was the first blogger quoted in the "Blogger" article in today's print version of the Citizen.

CarpeDiemePTC is a very erudite, intelligent blogger who never uses one word when four will do. If he were paid by the word, the Citizen would be bankrupt in a month.

Muddle could be thought of as CarpeDiemePTC-Lite. Usually well-informed and not afraid to mix it up. Not above an occasional bout of muddleslinging.

Kohesion is the board's blog instigator. Can usually argue either side of an argument, and occasionally both sides. Simultaneously. Note: When Kohesion and Muddle go toe-to-toe, it's often best to sit back and enjoy the fireworks.

grendlesmom is a blog meta-commentator. Her specialty seems to be chiming in when she thinks an argument has gotten too loud or gone on for too long. Generally ignored.

H. Hamster and Secret Squirrel are the board's blog comic relief. They'll pop in to various blogs and leave their occasional droppings of wisdom.

Peter Pfeiffer is a blogger who shares his name with the current Fayette County commissioner. There is some disagreement as to whether this blogger and the commissioner are one and the same, as the remarks of the Blogger Pfeiffer seems considerably less informed than the commentary of Commissioner Pfeiffer found in the Citizen's print pages.

John Munford is a blogger as well as a Citizen reporter. Fair warning: this is not cute 'n cuddly John Munford you know from the paper. John does not suffer blog fools gladly and will not hesitate to challenge you.

DWP33, yaught, Buckwheat Rules and Christi comprise the Board Bigot Brigade, dedicated to the proposition that no problem is so big that it cannot be blamed on African-Americans (or to use their codewords: "illegal students", "Riverdale thugs" or just "them").

Fatdaddy721 is a recent newcomer and a trainee at the Board Bigot Brigade as well. He's currently exempt from criticism for his racially tinged remarks because he just got out of the military

PTC Guy and Git Real are the board's blogging Twin Towers of Intolerance. To disagree with either of these gentlemen (on any matter, spiritual or secular) is to by definition reject Christianity with all of your heart.

Merrilyn is not actually a blogger at all, but an advanced robotic program, named after the late Merrilyn Arnold of the Wynnmeade Homeowners Assoc, who sadly passed away from a choking accident at one of the nightly Brie and Champagne parties that are held at the revitalized Wynnmeade subdivision. The "Merrilyn" program, or "bot", sweeps the blogs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, seeking the word "Wynnmeade" in blogs. When it (or "she") finds a match, she automatically posts a response listing ten to sixteen random phrases about how great a place Wynnmeade is to live. Somewhere Ms. Arnold is smiling...

There are also a passel of lawyers and teachers blogging here...truthfully I have a hard time telling them apart.

Finally, there is an occasional blogger named Cal Beverly, who appears very well informed with a good sense of Peachtree City's history. His single drawback is that he from time to time acts like he owns the place.

Why have you forsaken me?
I was hoping to be included in you Who's who as the wise and well-informed blogger from Transilvania who never thinks blogs are for real...
Anyway, I enjoyed your outburst of posturing and grandstanding that ended in the retirement of the Retired Major. Though I remember Cal warning me in the past and threatening me with oblivion at the request of the Twin Intolerants.
You must be enjoying your sudden popularity my ricy friens.

AMMENDED:

Basmati: Thrower of bombs, attacker of character, quoter of GA Codes and summoner of lawyers. Most disliked poster. Most childish photos. Most angry poster.

Ignore the ignorant is my motto!

No nasty language from me.

I choose to ignore "He who shall be nameless" (kinda like the evil in Harry Potter novels)

So I ask one "have you noticed this or is it just me" question and I'm a biggot and prejudiced? That one post out of all is what has defined me? Talk about judging one another. There have been several people posting racist comments and I have not responded or posted agreeing with one. If I was a racist, I'd be all over those blogs.

I'd love to post a "who's who" on you but I really don't know you. Did you hear that? I really don't know you! Just like you really don't know me! So why don't you keep your ill-informed opinions about me to yourself.

Hey, how did this get resurrected? Anyway, All Smiles - don't worry about it. I did not receive honorable mention either. I guess you and I need to stir the pot a little. Oh well.

Christi - consider the source and ignore. Rice man did mention some names I have not seen in a while. Wonder where they went?

I expect they went to the same place many more of us are planning to go soon, away from these blogs. Too much me, me, me. Not enough about problems. Only want to talk about what is right with our institutions, nothing about what is wrong.

Someone by the name of America1st stopped by and left a message for you. It's around here somewhere.

Who is DUDE, dude? No one knows who you are addressing!

No one knows who you are addressing!

No one? Not even the people who understand how the "reply" function works? hmmmm. That's a puzzler all right.

Excellent summary.

You have a gift for capturing the essence of a personality in a succinct statement.

Google definition: “To go meta means to take a step back and look at the bigger picture”, I won’t even wait for the loud and long argument on this one, ‘cause there won’t be any argument, the big picture is – you ARE an basswipe.

Well, yeah, except he has me as something-something-LITE.

I rather thought of myself as the India Pale Ale of bloggers.

That was actually pretty good. Maybe some of us could give out our own versions of the field guide. Although I thought you were very kind toward me in your comments. Next time don't hold back...tell us how you really feel about us.

Isn't it funny how one who claims to be so much into facts starts throwing names around when his comments blow up in his face in the light of analysis?

Isn't that the real defintion of intolerant? Or is that hypocrite?

So, we are the Twin Towers, Git Real. Kinda catchy, isn't it?

Beware the Twin Towers! Or they will fall on you!!! Ahhhhh!

First of all basmatic, I am alive and very well. I blog when I have something to blog about. I have a life and I don't always depend on my computer for my amusement and/or entertainment. And as far as Wynnmeade is concerned, if you don't want to read positive things about this community....please don't. I wonder can I sue you for slander? HMMMMMMM.
