In an uncalled for, police chase,people were hurt, the innocent, my child. I live in a subdivision with a pool that never opens the same day ever year. Kids were in the pool the day before, and my child and others saw them and wanted to go the next day. I told them to go ahead, I'd be there in a minute. When I arrived about 10 mins after them, I couldn't believe my eyes, the kids were NOT in the pool, and a police cruiser,with someone in it was parked in front. On the pool door was a sign saying the pool was not yet open. Not seeing the kids I went to other childs house and then back to mine looking for them. I parked my car at home and walked back, hoping to see them along the way. When I got to the pool, I saw the police with their billy clubs 'popped' pulling our ..BLOODY, scared,..12... year olds out of the swamp in front of me! These were A students, good kids,that never got in trouble with anyone. I tried to find out what was going on, only to get bits and pieces out of both sides. It seems, the woman next door, seeing the children, in the pool ran screaming down the hill like a wild banshee, scaring these little guys that came ..in .. the gate...with the code..scaring them so bad, they could'nt remember it to get out and went over the side fence. {We got the 911 tapes.} After running the children into the swamp behind the pool, and having ample time to lesurely inspect the intact pool, she called the police to tell them she thought these same children were vandalising the pool. That is when the police came, seeing nothing wrong, still pursued these frighten children in a dangerous swamp. Because the people next to the pool for years had hispanics working for her hispancic husband, around the area, the children, deep in the swamp, never knowing the police were called, ran, when they saw a dark skinned man dressed in black chasing them. When they knew this was a police man, they stopped. The next thing was what I saw, except for a few not 'nice' things said to the kids in the swamp.
When I found out both sides, I made the kids say they were sorry for running over their protest that they had no idea it was the police and not someone from the house that called the police. The police called 'Juvie' as they put it, wanting to lock them up for being such hard crimianls. The "juvie" people, as they called them, didn't have room for these hard core pool violators, as they were all booked up with minor car theives, parent killers etc. When all this happend in front of the pool and banshee's house, knowing who's kids they were, never stuck her head out the door.
Because my kid was running in a swamp that sucked his tennis shoes right off his feet, and at times was up to his keeps in goop,he got a very serious infection in his feet, the next day his feet were twice their size. The Doctor said it was a very serious infection that had spread into the deep tisue and could go on to his lymphatic system, and cause him to die. He wanted to put him in the hospital if he wasn't better the next day.
As if this wasn't enough injustice, we had to hire a lawyer and go to court to prove our children were not felons. A friend in law enforcement told me that if the police were not drooling, the judge would have to side with them, or they couldn't hire anyone, and not to take it personal. The children went to court, told the truth and still got probation. I feel strongly, we have good police and bad police. We should pay them more, so we can keep the good ones, and get rid of the bullies and the thugs. PS. You know me and I know you...I will make sure there is'nt anything you can stop me for as the same bullies and thugs are not weeded out. A bully with a badge only draws more like him. We need all officers to be someone the kids can respect and not be afraid of, it is also a disgrace to the other good officers who get smeared with the same brush.
