Brown reports signs stolen, damagedTue, 11/01/2005 - 7:09pm
By: John Munford
Peachtree City Mayor Steve Brown has reported that more than 240 of his campaign signs have been stolen or destroyed over the past three weeks. In a press release Tuesday, Brown said some yards have had their signs stolen up to four times, and more than half of the total signs ordered have been stolen or destroyed. The campaign cannot replace the signs due to the expense and delivery turn-around time, he said. Brown also said that his opponents’ signs were left standing in yards adjacent to his supporters who reported problems with their Brown signs. “The people in the opposing special interest groups are so desperate to win the mayor’s race at any cost that they will destroy the personal property of others in their front yards,” Brown said in a statement, adding that he doesn’t blame teenagers for the vandalism. Brown said his signs were targeted to affect his campaign for re-election. “You just get really disappointed that it has come down to this point where those tactics are being deployed,” Brown told The Citizen. login to post comments |
