Can’t ‘wait and see’ on Kedron traffic light

Citizens of Peachtree City, are you aware that a developer is about to pull the wool over your eyes at the risk of your safety?
I am talking about the new Kedron Village shopping center. In the agreements with Faison Development and the city of PTC several years ago, Faison was to install a traffic light at the intersection of Georgian Park and Ga. Highway 74.
For those of you who don’t know, Georgian Park is the road that arcs behind the shopping center which has become the entrance to the new shopping center from Hwy. 74, and from Peachtree Parkway.
If lights are not installed at each end of Georgian Park, your safety will be in jeopardy every time you want to make a left onto 74 to continue south on 74, and a left onto Peachtree Parkway to continue north on the parkway.
The Georgia DOT and the city of Peachtree City have taken a wait-and-see attitude about the situation. After the shopping center opens, the city and citizens of PTC will no longer have any leverage to force the installation of the lights.
There has already been one fatality at the intersection of 74 and Georgian Park. Will you or a loved one be the next victim before the city does something about the situation? Think about that every time you consider “running into Target.” It could cost you your life. Cars and trucks go zooming down the hills on 74 towards this intersection from the north and south.
Please pressure your council and mayor to be proactive in this situation, and do the right thing for the citizens of Peachtree City, not the out-of-state developer. The signals should go in before the center opens, and not after.
Terry Paone
Peachtree City, Ga.

What, exactly, are you talking about? The developer of the new Target etc development agreed to install a light at Georgian Parkway and 74 and construction has already started- or have you missed the destruction of the entrance sign and landscaping to Ardenlee subdivision? The construction has already begun and, barring some unusual development, will likely be operational before the complex opens.

Unfortunately, however, attitudes such as this are what will cause 74 between Peachtree City and Fairburn to continue along it's current path to replicate highway 85 between Fayetteville and Forest Park. A stop light at every intersection. Grid lock from White Water to Waffle House at 74/I-85. Stop-n-go packs of cars, door-handle to door-handle for 10+ miles.

Oh now come on Secret Rodent, the fate of our citizens might end up like you, splattered on the concrete of our city. If you would have exited the nest and visited the meetings relative to this issue, you may understand what Mr.Paone is speaking of. Attitudes like YOURS, places our cities residents at risk of injury or perhaps worse.
You have exhibited your limited knowledge of this issue already based on your comments. If you feel so confident that our city will become "grid -locked" due to excessive traffic lights, go fight with the DOT. It has been their recommendation for 3 years now that a traffic light is and has been warranted at this intersection LONG before the shopping center began construction. Yes there has been a start to construction for the traffic lights. Until they are firmly planted and operating properly, it is our job to keep up the pressure so our elected officials act accordingly to enforce the rules agreed to by the development of this shopping center.
What has been your community service to this city?

Have you been proactive in reducing traffic conflict or have you simply become the spectator from the road side who cares only enough to have an opinion?

Either get in the game with a solution or shut your nut hole!
