PTC Memorial Day service reminds resident how nice her city really is

[The] Memorial Day service in Peachtree City once again reminded me of the reason my family moved to this town.

So many people allotted time in their busy schedules to pay tribute to those who gave their life for our country. Being a military family, we are sensitive to anti-military views splashed over the news wires, but it was wonderful to see this ceremony attended by so many people who cherish our country’s great moral values.

And it was gratifying to see the number of people with their young children, teaching them what is good and right. I heard a father say to his children just after the 88-year-old speaker was introduced, “Now listen to this. This is real history being told.”

We have such a lovely community. I drove my golf cart 15 minutes to the ceremony over beautiful paths, through landscaped subdivisions and past a golf course.

It reminded me of the comment of a friend from San Francisco who said, “Why, this is so beautiful — it’s like living in Golden Gate Park.”

It is unfortunate that we have become so blasé about our “heaven.” But holidays like Memorial Day and Fourth of July help refresh our perspective about all the things that are good about our community.

Thank you, citizens and leaders, for a wonderful Memorial Day ceremony, and for the reminder that we all are a part of something wonderful here in Peachtree City. We truly have a great community.

This is the very best place to live anywhere. Memorial Day ceremony was great, 4th of July always is and everyday is special if you drive along Peachtree Parkway North, 54 that was beautifed or my favorite - Aberdeen Parkway. What a wonderful city we have.

Stop whining about government or the newspaper and appreciate the city in which we live. You malcontents need to move away.

I'm with Sharon - staying here.
