Murray's raiders

H. Hamster's picture

What follows is a comment by another about the AJC article on the PTC Police Department's efforts to catch and/or deter the internet scum that wants to lure young teenagers into a sexual encounter.

"Well, now that you’ve printed the article and blown the cover of the undercover police officer who catches pedophiles, the predators may just look elsewhere. Smart move, DUH!"

Actually, it is a smart move - let them go somewhere else. It is amazing the 15+ moronic pedophiles kept coming to PTC after all the publicity, but of course, they are morons.

I had the same reaction. What the heck ??? Murray's Raiders do their job. The lawyers get the perverts off (no pun intended). Don't we have the DA who testified for a pervert that was his client ? You gotta be pond scum hurting attorney to have these people for clients.

I guess it's like Michael Douglas said in Wall Street: "It's all about the money, kid...The rest is just conversation."

But I love it when they bust these guys. Tonight at 9 NBC's Dateline has another in their series on setting up and busting these perverts. One guy came into the house expecting a 14 year old girl to be a lone and waiting, and he stripped naked just before they walked in with the cameras. National television: "Hi mom. I'm a pervert!" Smiling

This is good and important work that these cops are doing. The more it is done, the more uncertainty they produce in predators as to whether the "girl" (or, worse, boy) on the other end is for real or a decoy.

I never like the idea of inviting pedofiles to Peachtree City.

Maybe if we learned how to spell Pedophiles (pedofiles??) we might understand the importance of all aspects of law enforcement. Just a suggestion, but then again, I'm pretty confident in my understanding of the law and why/how the PD does their job.

I wasn't sure how to spell pedofile/pedophile so I spelled it the way the previous poster spelled it. It's not a word I ever use in my day to day life. Your posting is absurd. Understanding how to spell will not make us understand Chief Murray and why he operates our Police Dept the way he does. If he's so concerned about our youth he needs to quit harrassing them.

"He" needs to stop harassing them. Last time I checked, people were responsible for their own actions. Perhaps he placed the beer can in their hands. Perhaps he took them to the golf cart and made them steal it. Perhaps he took them into Kroger, or maybe Walmart, and told them that stealing was all right. Perhaps he caused all of the crimes that the youth have committed. Yes, "He" definitely needs to stop harassing them and maybe we'll be crime free. Novel thought. I like it (absurd!).

Well, there are pedophiles already living in PTC, JD. Check out the Georgia sex offender online database. It's not like the police are inviting pedophiles to a spotless city. And before someone gets upset, I'm not trying to say anything bad about PTC.
EVERY city has pedophiles, but much of the time nobody knows who they are because they do their dirty work in secret. As that article points out, they come from all walks of life.

I did read the AJC article and was intrigued by the fact that the officer visits an adult Web site, not a teen chat site, to catch these guys. You'd think by now that the creeps who go there would have figured out that someone is onto them.

True, that's only six...that are officially registered. But I am willing to bet there are many more that just haven't been caught yet.

Does anyone else find it chilling that so many of these guys have "absconded", never to be seen again? Who knows where they will turn up next and start again? These guys are never cured.

Years ago when I was single, I met a guy at church who charmed us all. Eventually, he told me he'd been in jail in Florida for molesting his step-daughter. He was divorced. I almost jumped out of my skin. A year later, I heard he was remarried...to a woman who had kids. Why are people so stupid?!

We may not have many, but at least the ones we have here have that bling bling thing going.

Yo, bro, what it is?

Yes they are and what the police are doing is fine with me. Either catch these guys and put them away or scare them away from PTC. Either is OK with me.

I do think some of the punishment is insufficient from what I read in the commie paper Sunday AM.
