Four Peachtree City juveniles have been charged with several golf cart thefts, police said.

Two were arrested on the golf cart that was initially reported stolen Tuesday; the other two were arrested on a second golf cart that was stolen to get away from the scene, police said.

The arrests came after a witness reported an in-progress theft at the Braelinn Village shopping center, police said. A witness kept the first stolen golf cart within eyeshot and relayed information to officers, police said.

Two of the juveniles were 14 years old and the others were 13 and 15 years old, police said.

The juveniles were also charged with other reported golf cart thefts from the previous weekend, police said.

I for one am glad I live in Peachtree City and I am not really concerned about golf cart theft. Yeah, that's a bummer, but look around at the neighboring communities. Some kid got hit in the head with an axe recently in Atlanta, drugs, murder, rape, etc. I'll take the golf cart theft and be glad I moved here. As for the Police, I think they do a fine job and keep everything under control. If golf cart theft / joyride is our biggest problem, then we are in good shape. Those of you who like to poke fun at Peachtree City from somewhere else, what's going on in your city? Are you on the list of top 10 places to live in America?

I am sooooooooo glad we don't live in PTC...the Land of Spoiled Children. Do the parents there ever actually spend time w/their "angels" or do they just give them $$ and tell them to have fun? Little brats will get away with it too, just watch!!

No the parents here do not spend time with their little "angels". Most of them work second jobs to keep up with the "Jones'" One example of absentee parenting is a mother of a very violent anti-social boy who spends all of her afternoons at World Gym picking up men. Yes they do often get away with whatever they want because our police dept. is hoplessly understaffed. Chief Murray thinks he only needs 8 new officers this year. I think he has been nipping in the evidence room, he needs at least 16-20 new officers to keep up with these out-of-control parents and their satanic kids.(oopps I mean "angels" yeah thats it "angels".)

You act like we think we are perfect, which we certainly are not. You also act like kids everywhere else are perfect too, which, obviously they are not.

Kids are never perfect or good, unless they have good parents. Not friends but P-A-R-E-N-T-S. You know the people who set boundaries and enforce the rules and consequences. HELLO, you people are the epitome of parents who randomly breed without thought or concern of how you will raise those mistakes. Our police officers are not here to serve as high priced baby sitters for you idiots. Get it together, most of the normal people here are sick of paying for your mistakes. My tax dollar should not be used to discipline your mistake.

We have many good kids here. I hope that there are more good kids than bad. We do need to recognize them and support them. The few bad kids that we have here seem to stand out. Maybe it is because the majority of our kids are good.

Seems like these juvenile delinquents enjoy stealing golf carts since they're repeat offenders. Where are the parents? What type of restitution will these juvenile delinquents or the parental delinquents have? Perhaps just a slap on the wrist since no one got injured and they promise never to do it again. Oh... I forgot, slapping will hurt their self-esteem. Sigh....

In the interest of accurate reporting, what subdivision do these little juvenile delinquents call home?

I think the Braelinn Village shopping center is very close to those apartments on Peachtree Pkwy. I remember reading about people close to the apartments having problems with those delinquents.
I would like to know where they live because I'm looking for a house in PTC and I don't want to live near that and always have to fear for my property being vandalized or stolen.

Probaly in one of those nice big houses in Smokerise Trace, or a similar subdivision. I think PTC has a bigger problem with privalged children being bored and commiting crimes more than we do with the children of mid-income homes. Its about teaching vaules. I know, kids will be kids, but it does not give them the right to take, or vandlize my property. The worse thing I did as a kid was steal glass coke bottles out of someones garage to take to the store for the refund. Wrong,YES, but at least I walked to the store to return them. Wasan't any golf carts to steal for the ride in my younger years!

If they steal a golf cart they can go anywhere, do or steal anything and get away with it. Police don't have the manpower to patrol the cart paths anymore unless they get a specific call and by the time they respond, the perp is 2 miles away.

Cameras on the cart paths are what we need. Then they'll have a photo of the thief in the stolen golf cart. Hard to explain that to his father - if he has one.

So, how did they do it. My golf cart has a key. I feel secure. So how did these delinquents steal your golf cart?

EZ GO electric golf cart universal key

16 bucks for a replacement key? Whew!

I didn't have a golf cart stolen, but either the owners left the keys in them, or they were hot wired.
And the real issue is not where they live, or how they gained access to the carts. Its that they took something that didn't belong to them!
I guess soon we will be reading about a case of "Cart Jacking"
