PTC Council must protect buffers

Kudos to Sallie Satterthwaite. She has the heart and love for Peachtree City that those of us who have been here 30-plus years share.

Her article on set-backs and zoning was right on target. The city needs to do nothing that would endanger our green space and buffer areas. Instead, protect them.

Progress is needed and inevitable, but not at the expense of destroying the very heart and essence of what sets Peachtree City apart: the color green.

Anne and Sallie, I agree. I'm a relative newcomer compared to you two-less than 10 years here! But just as the greenspace drew Sallie here in the 70's, it drew me here in the 90's. It's important that in our daily travels around our city we can enjoy the greenery, the sense of nature (even if through a car window), the calmness. It really is what makes PTC special.

Our land use plan should be treated as we treat the Constitution. It is a sacred part of Prachtree City and the wonderful thing is that it is available for everyone to see before they move here. See something you don't like? Don't move there. Pretty simple.

The only weak link in this is the hundreds of unprofessional real estate agents running around town. I'd like to see some requirement that they all attend a city orientation as a training requirement before they can sell houses in Peachtree City.

Some of these new real estste agents don't know the first thing about our city, although the majority of the old-timers in real estate are helpful and knowledgable.

How about it? There are only 5 or 6 companies in town, so it should be easy for the city to get their owners in for a meeting on how this can be done.

Yep. Keeping the Green is one key to PTC identity.

I'm afraid you are dreaming. The developers will see that there are soon no more trees in PTC than are now in Riverdale. They just need a little more time, Until you call them on this--you are wasting your time. You can't take the attitude that the Vatican did in WWll about Jews, you have to get to the core reasons.

I hope you are wrong. But I will not say you are.
