Mayor Lee Strikes Again And Votes Against Shamrock Park Beautification

Tonight Tyrone's Mayor Lee Struck Again...She had to break the tie. Caldwell and Furr for approval for allowing funding for improving Shamrock Park based on the surveys from the citizens and Smola and Letorneau opposed to putting any money into improving Shamrock Park. So here we go..."Vote Sheryl"...and she did cast her vote opposing considering funding to improve Shamrock Park. All is not right in the world when the town of Tyrone is beautifying a triangle piece of property (across from Shamrock Kitchen)and ignoring what is the center of Tyrone...Shamrock Park. Why are they so opposed??? My guess is that Barney Amos still wants to put a new Tyrone Town Hall and Police Station slap dab in the middle of Shamrock Park...so let's bite our nose off to spite our face!!! No upgrading Shamrock Park, but lets get going on "The Triangle". Get this.. there will be about 12 parking spaces for the triangle park that will have to back out into Senoia Road to exit..like what is at the Red Door/Townsell building. Sounds like an accident waiting to happen and what is going to happen when a kid kicks a ball out into the road and runs to get it. Now that the ditches are filled it is a clean clear path to the road...but lets turn this into a park and forget about the many acres of Shamrock Park with a lake that kids should be playing on and in a much safer place. It is a no brainer...but that is the problem with Tyrone. The Mayor can't think without asking Amos what he wants to do. So Tyrone Citizens it looks like the surveys you completed fell on dumb/deaf ears...so the next "beautification" project to take care of will be at the next election. Let's beautify town hall with the ousting of Mayor Lee, Letournea, and Smola, which will lead to the removal of Amos and Valerie. What a disappointment those five are. Hang tough Caldwell and Furr...help will be on the way next election.

It seems Mr. Smola objects to citizen input to the newspapers similar to the way he objects to most anything when he doesn't get his way. The citizens of Tyrone are clear in their desires; fund the restoration of Shamrock Park in an equitable manner! Mr. Smola's request for additional data borders on the ridiculous. Statistically, the data presented vs the data requested is negligible. And, Mr. Smola's objection to having walking /cart paths fits in well with the survey submitted from his own residence – "Would like to add skate board and dirt bike trails". Now, that ought to promote a safe, quiet park.
The Mayor, forced into yet another vote, objected to having the will of the people and the results of the Shamrock Park included as part of the upcoming Comprehensive Study. So far, the mayor was forced into three votes since the Council changed, with no decisions on her part enhancing the lives of the citizens of Tyrone.
The citizens of Millbrook, in cooperation with the State and County, would like to see their sewerage problems fixed. Adding additional capacity to the Town's public sewer is not the answer. Does either Smola or Letourneau read the paper? Mr. Amos alluded to the following at Thursday's council meeting. Per the AJC, a request from Union City for 1.4 million gallons per day for Union City's use was requested. In addition Fairburn's need for additional capacity from the Fulton County facility due to their expansion surely eliminates this option. Well, maybe not! Fulton County will probably reduce capacity for their towns to provide Fayette County's Tyrone with additional capacity – sure.
And while we're talking about sewer why is it that John Wieland's portion of the current allocation is always addressed when the commercial portion of the allotment was, per the original contract, awarded to Mr. Phil Seay? The commercial portion of this contract is for 60,000 gallons per day, an ample amount to serve the citizens of Millbrook and the "commercial" building of the Alliance Theater and the shops of Tyrone. Are there ulterior motives for not addressing and trying to correct the needs of the citizens of the 50-60 homes in Millbrook? Inquiring minds would like to know.
And now to the library! When it was brought to the Council's attention that a site for the library has never been formally brought before Council nor was the site ever approved by Council, bewilderment ensued. A small oversight that requires correction before the State's funds and Tyrone taxes are spent.
And, if Mr. Letourneau is either so bored with the procedures of Council or if he is so superior to the other Council members, perhaps resignation is in order. If not, the citizens of Tyrone would appreciate a little more respect by not rolling his eyes and by holding his head up without the use of his hands.
And last but not least. How did the Mayor inject HER selection for the Comprehensive Study? This subject was not on the agenda! Council was not consulted! It was stated that the selection was made from the larger subdivisions, etc. Where is Pendleton's representation? Are they too pesky? Where is representation from South Fork, Carrowmore or Windsong? The citizens of Tyrone and Council should be approached and a non-biased selection should be made. At that point, Council should be asked to approve the selections.

Why are Mayor Lee and Smola working against the citizen of Tyrone? That is the question that needs an answer. The citizens spoke out against Weiland and the development of South Hampton; that fell on deaf ears. The citizens spoke out against Weiland and their newest development; that too fell on deaf ears. The citizens spoke in favor of beautification of Shamrock Park; that fell on deaf ears too. For elected officials who are supposed to be looking out for the best interest of their community, these two seem to be blind! The latest vote against Shamrock Park is just downright STUPID! Maybe someone should get that Forensic accounting firm that looked at the Sheriff’s department to take a look at Lee and Smola. Might be interesting to see what is found!

of councilwomen Caldwell and Furr are so blatenly obvious, they are putting it ahead of what the people want! Smola made fun of their survey about Shamrock Park at every chance, he even stated in this paper that he thought the surveyors would just fill them in themselves! He is..GREEN... with jealousy! You see his little survey about the library cost the taxpayers a bundle! First he unveiled a $6,000.00 drawing of downtown Tyrone with the library sitting on land the town didn't own. People seeing it for the 1st time almost had heart failure because in his master scheme of things he had 'work/office' buildings drawn on top of the homes they were presenly living in. Shocked residence voiced their dismay at being left out of the planning and justifiably wondered how the new imminent domain law was gonna work. To settle them down he mailed a survey that cost about another $4,000.00, give or take. Then what did he do with the small number of replies he got? We don't really know, cause he decided on a spot for ..his.. library that wasn't even on the survey. Another waste of taxpayers money!
Councilwomen Grace Caldwell and Gloria Furr went door to door with their survey and it didn't cost the taxpayers one red cent! They also did something quite logical, they printed it in the paper. You only had to mail it in. It was one of healthest things that happened in Tyrone in years. People were so starved for being a part of things, they came out of the wood work to help Gloria and Grace. Nobody felt they had to be asked, they just wanted to help. It was wonderful. This is what is killing Smola and the Mayor. People know these 2 Councilwomen care about the people of Tyrone and are willing to give of themselves to help the people of Tyrone, rather than spending their money at every chance!

I have a great idea...Why don't you two just let us get another petition going to get you out of office. Everyone wondered why Smola wasn't on the last one with the Mayor...how bout this time ...let's do it again ....and instead of you running off to some high priced lawyer...to stop the next step in a recall, that being the people getting to ..VOTE..,let the petition go...FORWARD...to a vote and see now if the people still want you?

EVERY VOTE CALWELL AND FURR GOT ...WAS ..A ...VOTE... AGAINST...THE TWO OF YOU...AND THEY BOTH WON BY A LANDSIDE!

Councilwomen Caldwell and Furr try to conserve the town's money. The library that Smola and Lee are halking will cost the taxpayers of Tyrone about 500,000.00 up front, even with the grant and an estimated cost of 300,000.00 a year to operate. Now there are 5000 people in Tyrone, take away the kids and people who don't work, and that drops the real taxpayers down to, at most, 2000. That 500000.00 would cost each taxpayer about $250.00 more for the out of pocket and then the 300,000.00 a year to operate would cost each taxpayer about $150.00 more a year in Tyrone taxes. I wonder if they have done the math, or just so desparate to have something with their name on it. [They didn't get Hadley Park named after them]. I am so sick of those people and the ignorance!

Smola and Lee are burning our money up trying to show how great they are...when it just shows how stupid they are. It is time to stop them, it is way out of hand. Recall when they were miffed at Hank Sanik, and they had Barry driving back n forth in front of his house trying to give him a ticket for his RV parked in his back yard? Then Smola gets up at Town Council meeting going on about how upseting it was for him that Sanik may have a Florida plate on his RV? We just don't need that.

I wonder if anyone has ever told them that the Peachtree City library is about 3 miles from us and that the Fayette one is about 5? It sure makes a lot of sense to cripple the taxpayers with higher taxes, just cause a few don't want to drive a few miles.

Maybe since the Mayor of Peachtree City has already made it known that he is paid LESS THAN THE MAYOR OF TYRONE, maybe Mayor Lee and councilman Smola will donate their saleries to the library rather than raise our taxes. If they do, that will be the first thing I can recall either one of them doing that we didn't pay dearly for.

make good money too. Barry for this idy bidy town, pulls in around 100,000.00 a year and Val ain't hurtin. Maybe they would take a paycut so we could fund the library.

I would go for it. It was a case of sour grapes last night and everyone there knew it. I want someone who will do something for the Town. In my eyes both Smola's wanted an office to make them look good, it had the opposite effect, however. Both have been vile.

Aunt Bea making decisions worthy of a crack head, Barney and Thelma Lue crusing neighborhoods checking for out of state licence for campers, meanwhile the local developer is burying us alive in our own waste. A town councilman who is determin to get his name on something even if he has to build it on the city dump! It must be something in the water!
