Why such long school days here in the South?Tue, 05/02/2006 - 4:08pm
By: Letters to the ...
I don’t think it’s fair that the schools up North are in school for 6 hours, while J.C. Booth is at school for 7 hours and 40 minutes. Everyone says it is because of snow days, so in case we have a snow-day, we won’t have to make it up at the end of the year. But we should only spend the first few weeks going longer, not the whole year. I for one leave for school at 7:30 a.m, and get back at 4:20 p.m. In the North, you would leave for school at about 7 and get back at about 2:30. I am away from home for 8 hours and 50 minutes while they are only away from home for 7 hours and 30 minutes. Do you think that is fair? Well, I don’t. I think that they should shorten the days here.
