Jack Smith - County Commissioner ??

Get Real's picture

Jack Smith is running against Linda Wells. I won't vote for Chapman but I am curious about Jack Smith. He did qualify.

All I know is he is a CPA and lives in PTC.

Good - Bad - Ugly. All comments appreciated so we can get this guy checked out. Thanks.

is a 24 year citizen of Fayette County, years of service to the citizens via many civic organizations, and doesn't have his own axe to grind.

He has the experience and common sense to do a great job for our county. As a CPA he should be able to add a little extra in overseeing the budget processes.

He is exactly what this county needs, mature, settled and has the best interests of the entire county at heart, not on an ego trip or a power grab, unlike the three amigos.

GO JACK!

Jack Smith

Jack Smith is a respected local CPA. He lives in PTC but doesn't act like it. Good news--- he was President of the Chamber of Commerce. Bad news--- he was President of the Chamber of Commerce. Yet he was not one of those self serving slobs that promoted their own business. He gets good marks on service.

He would be instantly knowledgeable and instantly charismatic. He would hve the leadership skills to end the impasse between the Sheriff and the Commission (and right now they are both wrong).

Big question mark--- will he have enough backbone on the Open Government and Sixth Commissioner issues.

Anybody else ?

Jack is a good guy. Not sure what being President of the Chamber of Commerce has to do with anything, but he does run a business and probably won't be influenced too much by Greg Dunn. He is certainly a better choice than Sam Chapman and it is time for Linda Wells to go away, she's simply a rubber stamp for whatever Dunn wants.

Never heard of him. Against whom is he running? Like the grammer, shaved cat?

Hamster. Once and for all it's a LION buddy! Why are you asking me about your Grammer. I never met her? Hmmm..anyhows.

Jack qualified against Linda and that other guy. That's all I know.

Shaved lion, but a lion, nonetheless.

I heard from my bud. Jack Smith is indeed a CPA, a Republican and is only out to unseat Linda Wells. No development ties - like Chapman, so this guy may be a good choice.

I just have to weigh in here from afar. I know, I know, but on this I cannot be quiet. As far as the no development ties, Jack Smith has been a member of the Fayette County Development Authority for 10 years. That sounds like major development ties to me. I should also note that Jack Smith was recruited by Herb Frady and Eric Maxwell and decided to run for Linda's seat on the Thursday before qualifying began. So much for a deep seated desire to run for office. Jack, like Thomas Stephens in 2002, was recruited by those whose sole goal is to get Linda Wells off the commission so that they developers can take over. Ask Mr. Stephens about that experience and how he was misled by those with their own agenda. By the way, Jack is a CPA and a business owner. Great, but Linda is owner of a financial services firm and a successful small business person as well. Linda Wells has a solid track record of service, as does Jack. I guess my problem is that until he was sought out, he had no intention of running for this seat.
Even Sam Chapman, at least, talked about running for months before he qualified. Before you decide if Jack has developer ties check and see who contributes to his campaign. I am betting he will get major financial support from developers.

You sure are in the know from afar. Should we pray to you?

Get Real, you are really something. First I am Mrs. Dunn, then I am not, then I am somebody else, (can't remember who and no time to look). Get over it. There is a new invention, perhaps you have heard of it. It is called the TELEPHONE. It is great, you can hook up your computer to it and you can talk to all kinds of people. It is almost like being there. It is amazing that I seem be able to stay in touch better from 500 miles away than you can in the same town.

Maybe you should get out more.
