Why all the Fayetteville support?

I am not a big fan of American Idol, but I have been watching from the fringe for the last several weeks. I find it interesting all the "local girl" support that Paris is receiving, yet in the "family video" that was shown for Paris in last night's show (Wednesday, 04/12/2006) she was billed as being from Minneapolis, and a casual mention was made of 'Atlanta", but no reference to Fayetteville at all. I came away with the impression that she is a Minneapolis girl, as I am sure did many other viewers around the country. So why are we all still showing such support for the "local girl" when Fayetteville was not even acknowledged?

Maybe because she has "real" talent? That would be my reason to support her, if I supported her. Who cares where she lives?!! I believe it has been mentioned on more than one occasion that the child is from Fayetteville, Georgia. The show is not about where you reside....it's about having talent.

I'm no advid AI watcher either, but it is about the appreciation of the talent. I suppose everyone has their own reasons for watching it.
